What sort of blood groups are found in Cats. ?

I was thinking of Asian cats in particular. Not looking for a detailed answer.

Answers:
cats have 3 blood types A, B and AB. It depends on the parents what blood type the kitten will have and not the race (although races do have higher proportions of a certain type). If you have a cats get them tested because if the mother has a different blood type than his kitten(s) they can develop a disease and its also a good idea to know just in case your cat ever needs a blood transfusion, given the wrong type it could die (just like us).

the effect of incompatibility between mother and kittens is not at all well known. The risk to kittens in the first few hours after birth can, in some instances, be very high; in fact, in some litters mortality will be 100% if no precautions are taken.

The reasons for this effect of blood groups in cats can be summarised thus:

* Immediately after birth, the surface proteins of the kittens red blood cells may in some circumstances react to antibodies from the mother, and this will destroy the kittens blood cells.
* The circumstances are:
only if the mother has type B blood,
and if a particular kitten has type A blood.
* A kitten having type A can only occur if the father is type A (or type A carrying B).
* The kittens obtain the antibodies only after birth, from the first milk, colostrum.

The two main types are ‘A’ and ‘B’, with ‘A’ being a simple dominant over ‘B’; so a cat may be type ‘B’ (homozygous recessive), type ’A’ but carrying ‘B’ (heterozygous), or ‘pure A’ (homozygous dominant).

There is a third type, ‘AB’, which is very uncommon, and until recently, poorly understood. It is not the same as AB in humans (if a cat receives ‘A’ from one parent and ‘B’ from the other, it will not be type ‘AB’, but type ‘A’ carrying ‘B’). Recent research suggests that type ‘AB’ operates as part of the same series as types ‘A’ and ‘B’, although it appears to be inherited separately.
sugar added A+??

I guess the same blood groups as humans but the percentages may vary and the most prevalent groups may be different.

So that's blood groups O, A, AB & B
