Animal cruelty?
As pet owner myself I say yes, but I feel if there is no justice with abuse against humans what chance do animals have.

I like the idea of fining people a percentage of the gross salary. That way it is garunteed to hurt them - and the money could go to shelters.
I feel both abuses should be tackled firmly.
i think that punishment for animal abuse it too lenient. they need harsher punishment for sure. people who abuse animals also have a more likely chance of harming humans. animals are defenseless beings and they need our protection and the protection of the law
yes the gov is too soft on nasty people. we should try doing to them what they do to animals the bastards
there should be tighter restrictions on who is allowed to own an animal.
There should be better advice owning animals.

yes i think they should i watch all these animal shows on tv and people like get a 500 pound fine they should get at least a year in prison for wat they do to there animals i have about 15 animals and there all spoilt rotten just becos you have loads of animals doesnt mean you can neglect them, you c animals lock in cages everyday not been fed how wud the people who do that like to be locked up for yrs they should bang people up for animal crulety xxxxx
I answer, there should have a jail terms, for those people who have pets and neglect them or races them for fights and profit (except for respondsible briders/kennels/raisers). note for people who wants pets expecially exotic one's they should have the laws or registration
Abusers are abusers and people abuser often start out abusing pets.
The fines and penalties should be dealt with in a variety of ways. Mainly we need to deal with it in a psychological way that keeps it from escalating. Jail time and monetary fines don't always do that.

Police should have to patrol previous animal abusers and previous slaughter houses to make sure they arn't doing wrong. One day, the animals will turn and abuse us.

You're so right! what deterrent is it if they are only banned from having animals in the future when an animal has already suffered neglect or injury sometimes until death.
There are no real checks as to whether they obtain further pets after failing to provide for the initial one.
The inhumanity man shows another human being is becoming far too commonplace I fear, as we accept murder ,abuse and war as the norm now. Nothing seems to shock anymore!
I feel more must be done to protect the innocent animal or human as they are living beings. Life is too precious a thing to waste just because some human decides it no longer suits them!

I agree with you, it has to be the only way to get the animal cruelty to stop! poor innocent animals are being abused and trained to fight and kill eachother. My family adopted my first dog off the street because people were going to use her as pitbull bait for their dogs. what a horrible thought. The law should try everything just to get it to stop
Yes! They should be kept in a cage and being abused by pigs, cows, sheeps and then finally put in a lion!

Given the cost to house a single prisoner for one day (very expensive), there is no real desire to build more prisons.
i think that anyone cruel enuf to hurt an animal is soo sick! like that question that someone put before what would happen if you put butter on a cat, how wud it land or something, and i bet someone is tryin that out! the laws and prosecutions shoulde be stronger!!!
humans can fight back,animals can't. the poor things,maybe thats why it is cowards who hurt them knowing that they can't fight back,pity its not a 20 stone body builder they are hitting,it will happen though what goes around comes around when it does ,just think of the poor little animal you have punched or kicked.From an animal lover.

People who harm or kill animals should be shot, i hate animal cruelty and get sooooo angry when i read in the paper, or see it on the news about these people being cruel to animals. They should be banned for life for owning animals. They are just cowards who pick on a poor defenseless animal because they have not got the guts to do it to a human being. Animals are more loyal than humans i think. In fact they are more intelligent than humans.

I think humans are more important than animals. Or is it preferably to use humans to test new drugs (and make them get cancer). But animal cruelty is not a good sign.
Absolutely yes. I think its absolutely shocking some of the cases you read in the newspaper. Recently a man stabbed his own labrador to death, several stabs, he'd had her for 14 years!!

Animals cannot communicate. We must make harsher laws and even harsher punishments for breaking the laws. I sometimes feel there is no justice regarding human abuse but maybe it is the other way around. If everyone could understand the plight of animals, people would become more humane.
Animal abuse is definately wrong as is abuse to humans. The only difference here the animal has no choice but to put up with it as it has no voice. You just need to watch programmes like Animal Cops (American) to see that it is possible to deal with animal cruelty but this country seems not to feel the need to have a designated force to deal with animal cruelty cases.
Abuse an animal and you should be tied to a pole while dogs attack them.
Punished to the fullest extent. A poor animal can't even tell someone else the abuse is happening.
Any abuse of a poor defenseless animal is the lowest form of depravity .Animals have no choice in who owns them ,its just the luck of the draw.They are so very fortunate to get loving caring homes where they become a member of the family,or they can just as easily be owned by a beast that starves ,beats and kills them.
I am sickened by reports of the heinous crimes I see committed against children and the animals i hold so dear.
The penalties should be much stiffer,I don't think they should never be free again to inflict pain on any living thing ever .There is a recognized length between animal abuse and child/adult abuse.All known serial killers talk of abusing animals as a child.
Stop this abuse ,stop it if you see it ,call the police,speak up for those that cant speak for them selves.Make a difference in your own home town.Stop Abuse of our most defenseless ,children and animals.
