Is it normal for dogs to deliver another puppy 2 days later?
Answers:
It is not common, but does happen occasionally. The worst thing, is that the later puppy will get less of the colostrum, so may have a depressed immune development..
Only a vet can tell if there are more puppies, so you may want to take her in..she should see the vet anyway, to make sure she has passed all placentas..The vet will usually give a shot of pitocin to help her clean out..
Watch the new puppy, to make sure it gets a fair share of milk..You may have to keep formula and a bottle and nipple on hand.
it isn't unheard of but it is not common. my dog did it a couple of years ago. i took her into the vet and she was fine but the puppy did not make it. she should be fine but maybe you should get her checked out. good luck
possibly not but my plummer had three then wanted to go walking but i dissuaded her then had number 4 within 10 minutes
GO TO THE VET!!!! It's not normal.
i would take her to the vet. after labor that long, the pups dont have much of a chance of surviving inside, and it could be dangerous for momma. better safe than sorry right? i mean, if you were in labor and didnt know how many kids you were having, and one came out 2 days after the first, you would be a little worried about the health right?
No, it is not normal. You should take her to the vet so he can do an x-ray to see if there are any more pups. He may also want to give a shot to clean her out.
no it isn't noprmal and since your brother in law is obviously not experienced he should have got the vet out to check her. He is very very lucky she passed the pup because if she hadn't, she would have died slowly from septicaemia and so would the puppies and all becuase their owner was too stupid to do anything about it.
