Can I get an ASBO on next doors CHICKENS?
My neighbour has chickens, 4 in total. They all are female and lay their eggs early in the morning. The noise they make trying to push the damn egg out keeps me awake in the morning when I need my sleep after a late night. Is there a law about keeping chickens in a residential back garden? Can I serve an ASBO on them or the owners?

Forget about an ASBO get a FOX LOL are just catch them at night and cooking them for your Sunday dinner. Here and you can be my TAXI DRIVER ANY TIME
there is no law but you can get an asbo on anything
Get yourself a pet fox and accidently let it in their garden. Then have a nice peacefull kip-job done
As far as i know chickens r exempt from asbo's .. but the owners arnt .. and yes there are laws against keeping farm animals in a residential area . so check out the local laws at ur town hall .. and good luck! hope u get a good nights sleep soon ..

Get in touch with Environmental Health, as noise such as this is classed as a nuisance, and they have powers to sort the noise nuisance out.

You couldn't get one on the chickens but I'd go to either the council and check on the By-laws or Enviromental Health. Its a residential area and if they are causing a disturbance it doesn't matter what time they are doing it. The owners are responsible and can be made to do something though in the case of chickens I'm not sure what!
I had a friend who had to have a sound-proof shed built for his Siamese Cats. He bred them so the noise was really bad!

I think your being to harsh Its only 4 chickens their not that noisy because I have them myself. It's laying in the morning not in the middle of the night. Your lucky they dont have cocks to wake u in the mornings. That would be much noisier and maybe then u should complain but hens..

Yes in fact most towns/cities and residential areas have laws prohibitting Poultry in city limits..
Some may alow them with a permit as long as they are not a problem.
Contact your city government and ask them and file a complaint..
Or talk to your neighbor about it.. maybe there is something you guys can work out.

if it isn't there chickens it will be barking dogs, kids playing, the radio, television , vacuum cleaner,lawnmower,etc. People have a right to live their normal lives during the day. The best solution would be for you to get some earplugs then you can sleep. No doubt your neighbours are woken all through the night by the sound of your car coming in and out of your property, headlights shining through their windows etc. I used to live next to a cab driver and never got a proper night's sleep until I bought some earplugs.
Just because you choose to work when other people are asleep, you cannot expect your whole neighbourhood to remain silent so that you can sleep when normal people are about their daily business.

they dont make that noise pushing the eggs out lol, they make the noise when they have layed . i have hens and a cockeral and i love to hear them , but i chose to keep them and have no neighbours ,, talk to ur neighbours about it .
