What can I do 4 my dogs wound?
My bullmastif dog has a wee bit of a wound on her back, it is quite bad and open but not bad enough for her to have a stich..what can i put on the wound?
Answers:
I had the same thing. You should keep it clean and disinfected. Put gauze on it to cover it up so nothing gets inside of it. If it isn't too bad it will heal on its own. If you are not sure take her to the vet.
kill the dog
triple antibiotic ointment
whatever u would put on urself u can put on ur dog
Please take your dog to the vet. If it's quite bad, it could become infected.
lick it.
Ok clean the wound with warm water and after add some ointment eg savlon or germolene and try to cover if the wound is seeping blood or pus. This should do the trick..
Salt Water, that will help it heal. i did it wit my dig when he had an operation. Trust me it will work.
clean it w/ hydrogen proxide, and then antibotic cream. keep cleaning it daily if not more
Tea tree oil - neat. Followed by Vaseline.
Should not get infected and will allow healing.
If it's bad enough for her to have a stitch, she should be at the Vet's office.
If she's taken there, he will give you medication "the proper called for medication" to put on the wound.
Clean with water put neosporn on it and seal it with liquid skin, if this doesn't work consult a vet.

how did she get the wound? take her to the vets
How do you know it's not bad enough for a stitch? Remeber dogs are always rolling around in all kinds of crap and it could easily get infected. If you have pet insurance try the Vet for the dogs sake. If not and you can't afford the treatment wash the wound out with a wound wash such as Savlon. Check there are no grass seeds inside the wound which can make things really bad.
Then use a pet antisceptic cream not a human one as a lot of them contain Paracetamol which can make a dog ill. (Been there!) Don't bother with a patch the dog will only roll around trying to get it off. let the air get to it to dry and heal over, putting a patch on will only keepit moist and will not heal quickly.
bath the wound in warm salty water.
place savalon upon the open wound and if possible a dry dressing to keep the area clean for 24-48 hrs.
Clean the wound with luke warm water with a cloth that wont loss any fluff then put some germalene or something similar on it if its no better take her to the vets.
Definately put neosporin on it and keep it clean if she has long hair that may cause infection in the area you may need to trim a small space around the area to keep out the hair ,if the area starts getting red or draining puss definately consult a vet.Try not to let her chew/scratch at it a bandage may be a good idea if you let her out much, anyway good luck!
get a bottle of iodine from the chemist tomorrow and drip enough on it to cover the wound it will keep it sterile
Go 2 the vet !
If its a reaction to a tick bite take her to the vet. The head will be festering in the middle.
If the skin is actually split open so you can see the inner layers, take her to the vet.
If its bigger than a 10p piece, take her to the vet.
Iodine is amazingly painful, she may bite in retaliation. With a bullmastiff that could be serious.
Tea tree oil IS NOT suitable for open wounds, neither is Vaseline.
First of all what kind of wound is it, is it a bite from another dog? Is it from an RTA? If it is a bite then clean it with some warm salt water as a sayline solution. then just leave it, if it ia like a hole where a tooth has gone in as long as you keep it open and clean any infection should just seep out. If it doesn't seem to get any better please go and seek vet assistance.
JUST CLEAN it!Betadyne is a great cleaner. Then LEAVE IT ALONE!
get your dog to the vet! as one person already said you don't know if it needs stitches or not.anyway the vet is the only one who will know for sure what to do. it might need an antibiotic injection to be on the safe side. when it comes to pets i don't play guessing games i get them to the vet. any bacteria can get into an open wound. so go a.s.a.p. your dog will get expert help and you'll have peace of mind! good luck.. bye
Have you taken her to a vet for treatment, you need to do that straight away in case of infection, if your unwaged the PDSA will do it for you with a very small cost/donation, don't leave it as it could become a huge problem, good luck.
