Pregnant one.
A shrew is a rodent. Rodents are not venomous. Who ever told you this is an idiot.
Contemptable maybe!
Apparantly they taste very bitter. My cats will not eat them if they catch them, but will eat other vermin. This leads me to believe there is perhaps some truth in this.
Shrews are indeed venomous...However, where humans are concerned, it is no where near enough to do any harm. Their saliva has a chemical in it that paralyzes its prey. Scientists are actually studying its properties to use as an alternative to botox.
There is evidence that a few shrew species produce a toxic secretion, which probably helps to immobilise especially large prey, such as other small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and larger invertebrates, by its effects on the nervous system. This poisonous bite has been reported from North American Blarina and European Neomys. The bite can be quite painful to a human hand for, although shrew's teeth rarely puncture the skin, the toxin in the saliva of some species seems to produce a slight inflammation and reddening of the skin which can persist for several days.
No, like all rodents they may bite if threatened but nothing more.
Surprisingly some species are. You would think that I'm referring to some strange South American shrew, but you would be mistaken. Even the North American Short Tail secretes a paralytic agent! Huh! Strange stuff.
Here are a few articles that cover the various kinds of venemous shrew species:
