Limping Pig?
My female KuneKune pig has a limp, her front trotter/leg is slightly swollen and feels hot, any ideas what I can put on it/buy to help?
I will gget the vet out if it isn't better in a few days?
Answers:
It sounds like an infection between the claws "foul of the foot" is used to be called ( cloven hoofed animals are prone to this ) Time to go to the vet for an antibiotic injection and maybe a foot bath, possibly formalin.
Heat suggests it could be a break, an infection or both. Vets now.
this pig has either had an injury in the past or present. I would ask the vet for some 20 mg Prednisone pills.but its always better to visit a vet and not taking any chance
You could try bathing it in hot water, it may be a cyst and this could bring it to a head.
Try bathing it in cod water for about 10 mins. if it still swelling still hasn't gone down do it again about 1 hour later
get the vet out and ice it
take it to the VET
