How can i entertain my dog when i am gone all day?
Answers:
Buy a couple KONG toys, fill them with peanut butter and freeze them. Hid them around the house (but don't make it too difficult!) You can also hide regular toys around the house. Leave the tv on while you are gone. My dog's don't care what channel it is!
Try getting a special toy that would keep her attention for a while when she is at home in her crate. They usually sleep, but sometimes my dog will play in her crate while I'm at work.
They have these bones/toys that you can freeze overnight that dogs seem to enjoy gnawing on. Ill be watching for other answers too
Try making her feel special by taking her to training school! Then, when you come home, you'll be sooo amazed by the things that she could do.(this might help! hope it will)
I keep the television on while I am gone, which is not entertainment, but I think human voices are good for animals.
One thing I have found to keep my dog "busy" is putting bones in her Kong toy or what she really loves is I put canned food in it and freeze it, so she cannot get it out all at once, it takes her awhile and she loves it.
They also make "interactive" toys now, which you can tape-record your voice and when your dog moves it, it activates your personal message to them.
Have you tried Doggy Daycare?
Give her a bone. Also get one of those balls that you can put treats in.She has to roll it around to get the food out. They keep them occupied for ages.
get a cat
Go to the source below and get a toy called a Kong, make sure it is her size. Fill it with peanut butter. She has to work to get to the peanut butter.
also, there is another toy that is a ball. You fill it with biscuits. As she rolls it across the floor, occasionally a biscuit will fall out. These are highly recommended toys by trainers to keep your dog busy. Also, leave the TV on, soft volume, or the radio, classical and soft volume.
All of these should help her occupy her time while you are gone.
Best to you and your dog.
Leave the radio on
get cloned
Get her lots of toys. Set her up witha nice bed a blanket and toys. Maybe when you have the money get another dog.
show her how to use UKQnA.com, she can earn you points while your at work.
You leave your poor dog alone for 8 and a half hours, you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself!!! Pay someone to come and take the poor animal out for a walk at least once during the day, you want something CHEAP to entertain her? Don't keep a dog if you can't afford to care for it properly, I gather from your question that you are still at school so is most of the care down to your parents? or are they at work all day?
Get a smaller plastic bottle and remove the lid, any loose plastic bits and any labels. Fill it with big treats that she have to work at to get out. Reduce her daily allowance of food accordingly.
She spend ages working on her bottle and tire herself out! Give her a good walk before you leave her in the morning so that she has a nice long snooze when you leave.
Put the bottle down somewhere where she'll come across it.
She'll love it!
Dogs are very sociable creatures, how does your dog react to being left alone for what is quite a long time? Is there no one who would walk your dog half way through the day?Where does your dog poo or pee or is she locked outside? I personally would not consider leaving my own dogs for that long.the longest would be 1 hour max but if you have no alternative..a really good walk prior to your leaving..access to water of course..lots of toys and chewy bones to occupy her time and yeah I am one of those who leaves the tele on too!! I feel sorry for your pooch and hope it is not long before you are able to spend more time with her
Bones and toys also walk her before you go out this will help reduce her energy levels and stop boredom, leave a radio on she may not want to bogey the day away but it will break the silence.
The best thing that I think is a Kong..It will cost you between 10-30$$$ depending on the size dog you have. Just before you leave fill it with dog treats and the put peanut butter in it so it has to work to get its treats out. My dogs love this and it keeps them very busy.
I know you go out early, but a good walk for your dog BEFORE going out would help enormously !! To be honest, if you do not have the time to look after a dog, maybe you should have waited for a bit longer until you take on the responsibility. Having now got the dog, you have to make sacrifices, I am afraid........ Good Luck.
Get someone in to take her out for a walk.you shouldnt have a dog and leave it all day.
Buy the BUSTER CUBE - fill it with dry food (and don't give her breakfast) this way she will have to play with the cube to get food and well - you will see - there a couple of sizes - My giant schnauzer has the large red cube. It is invaluable!. They get tired out with it and it is so entertaining!
Good luck!
Please remember the dog / animal years factor... ie 7 years to our one. Therefore if you leave a dog etc alone for 7 hours then it feels like 49 hours to the poor animal..! Thats over 2 days alone! Have you ever wondered why your dog goes nuts when you come home after just one hour away.it feels like a whole day to him!
Just a thought....
If you think about it when you are asleep th dog is ok he will usually sleep most of the time and when you get up they are wide awake and you have been fooled into thinking that they been up all the time.in the day they hear all the daily noises and will walk round and investigate. so if you can take the dog out before you go out then when you come home that should do
Chews/toys, leave a radio on, the toys that you can put edible things in & have them hunt about for them or have to puzzle out how to get the treat from the insides are good. Just make sure she can't chew it to bits & choke on anything. Maybe have a neighbour, friend or relative you trust to come round once while you're out to say hello.play with her.take her for a walk? something like that. Keep an eye on her though for signs of boredom - it;'s not good for the dog & it wont be good for your home either. Trust me I know, I had chewed walls for abit(!)
