Is my canary ok?

he spends most of his time sitting in his water bath. he is at least 8 years old. am worried he might be ill as he doesn't normally spend so much time in it. the room i keep him in is of a comfortable temperature, but maybe is he just trying to keep cool?

Answers:
maybe he has bird flu
If it's been as hot where you live as it has near me, he's probably just resting in the heat. Take him to the vet if you're worried. Couple of sites pasted below which might be useful for you.
he might be keeping cool but perhaps he feels very dirty after being down the mines so needs to constantly wash or perhaps he is learning to swim.
put it in a pie and make some use of it
My gofffins cockatoo does the sma ething in the summer, even if the AC is one she will sit in her water dish bathing or just sitting in it for hours.

Lots of birds do do it. But if you are skeptical about it see your avian veterinarian.
I would call a vet & ask.
check is feet for swelling if he dose he could well have mites called scally mite. or if he has metal ring on is leg it could be to tight.or mayeb your rigth he cannot stand the heat like me?
i think he is just trying to keep cool birds are sometimes hotter than other animals
bird flu it is.
Yes, particularly if its very warm where you are living. If your not sure though, I would phone the vet and ask for advice
COOL DOWN THE TEMPURATURE OK
maybe he should be set free. free as a bird as the saying goes.
