My son put a lot of fish food into our goldfish tank and now 1 is at the bottom-ailing what can i do?
Answers:
Get the food out, they will all die for sure.
Clean everything and change the water.
Bet it was those flakes, they never tip out too well !
clean them out as the food will rot and it can kill the fish.
hope. nothin much you can do for fish. silly little things.
u need to clean the tank out asap!
take the fish out and put in a bucket with clean treated water and about half of the water from the tank.
once the tank is clean u can put them back in.
the filter will then have much more chance of removing all the excess food as the water has been diluted!
Fish it out...no i'm not being funny, but you need to take all the fish out of the tank and clean it, rotting food causes bacteria which is harmful to fish.
Change the water immediately, the food is polluting the water and the fish will die if you dont.
Burial at sea..
put some chips in the oven
get another one.. there like 30 cents..
If it looks like it's on it's way out, remove it from the tank and place it in a bag of ice. The fish will shut down in the ice and die, rather than leave it to suffer any longer.
take half the water out the tank and replace with clean, will work wonders.
your son is very practical, creative and enthusiastic just like my 3yr old son, keep on being proud of him, is he an enthusiast?

For one definetly clean out the tank. To do this stir up the pebbles and scoops out waste. also remove 3/4 of the water in the tank and replace it with safe water. (add water conditoner to water or let tap water sit out for 48 hours so chlorine is removed) Then monitor your fish do not feed your goldfish for about 2 days.
your not supose to feed your goldfish too much
Sit back and relax. Its just gas, make sure that you have a proper temperature for the fish, and try to make him comfortable. You can help by looking up in some "Fish Books" and see if there is any item, or food you can feed to him to help him (no more regular fish food obviously.) Its just how comfortable you fish can get while he is recovering, I also suggest hiding the food, and maybe you can supervize your child when he is feeing you fish. GOOD LUCK!
Not much. Vacuum out the extra food and hope he recovers. We once fed too many brine shrimp to our guppies, and several of them ate so much they exploded!
Dumb fish!
The 1st thing to do is clean the tank ASAP. Fish food = ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. It doesn't matter if it's eaten or rots is ammonia sooner or later. If you have a gravel vacuum throughly vacuum the gravel and replace 30% of the water. Do this for the next 2 days.
Other wise I'd get a bucket or something. Put at least 50% of your current water, and 2 handfuls of gravel into the bucket. Put the fish in. Dump the rest of your water, and rinse out your gravel with clean water. Don't clean off the filter media if you have a filter. Then tomorrow replace 30% of your water. Rinsing your gravel will remove excess food, but it will also kill the bacteria that break down ammonia and nitrites into nitrates. The saved gravel will help jump start the bacteria in your gravel. Likewise cleaning the filter media will kill off bacteria.
Don't feed your fish for the next 2 days. On day 2 cook some peas, and remove the peel on the peas. Throw 1-2 peas per fish into the tank. Hopefully the "bottom ailing" fish just has digestive troubles which have compressed his swim bladder.
Start planning an elaborate fishy memorial service.
When you get new fish (after the tank is cleaned out), lock up the fish food.
clean out the tank and put fresh water in it and dont feed them for a few days
Clean out you fish tank quick
you need to remove all the excess food that you can and change the water in the tank and hope the little guy makes it. I have that problem once in a while with my 3 year old nephew, he likes to feed the fish, it's usually the beta's that get fed tho, because they are easier to get into. good luck!
