Frontline for cat fleas?

When i bought my kitten he had been frontlined, however i am not sure how often i should repeat this, my cat does not have fleas however at the weekend i am going to let him into the great outdoors for the first time and dont want him to pick any fleas up. Can someone please tell me the usual procedure for frontlining your kitten

there is lots of things hat you can give but if he is still Little make shore you get the kitten product as the others are too Strong. they will tell you how often as each brand is different.
PS: good luck with letting him out, and of course don't forget to take pictures of his excitement of his new found new freedom :)
You are supposed to use in every 30 days.I keep my cats inside so I use it every 4 months or so.If your cat is going to go outdoors,I would apply it.It keeps him safe againest ticks as well.
You should do it about every 3 months - however in summer when there is more chance of the cat getting fleas my vet said you can do it every 5-6 weeks, one of my cats loves rolling around in any pile of leaves that looks as though it is infested with fleas.
A house spray is also a good idea - it will last about 6 months.
You use it every 30 days
the answers so far seem to have it. All I would add is that if your kitten is still quite little, to use maybe half the dose and then the other half a couple of weeks later. This is not advice from the vet, but it works on my cat and makes the frontline last longer! Make sure you put the drops on the back of the neck, just above the shoulder blades, so the cat can't lick it. If it does, it'll foam at the mouth and look really pathetic! I don't think it'll do any long term damage..
Frontline is applied every 30 days. It is just a topical product and wherever you buy it should make sure you have instructions on how to apply it. If not just make sure you spread the fur and actually get it applied to the skin. Usually between the shoulder blades. Use the entire tube and make sure your kitten is at least 8 weeks old. Also, there are other products out there, but PLEASE make sure they are vet approved.for instance there is a product called biospot..not good for some cats. I work at a vet clinic and we had two cats last week almost die from having had biospot applied to them. It can cause seizures and neurological damage and even death in some cats..so whatever you do.like I said, make sure it is approved by a vet. Frontline is probably the best product on the market for fleas and ticks. Also advantage is a good product.
You didn't say how young your kitten is, but you can get kitten frontline. They have to be treated every month. Mark on your calendar the same date every month.
Even indoor cats can get fleas, so keep up the monthly treatment.

There are other makes besides Frontline, just check which suits you better, some treat fleas/worms/ear mites/ticks/heartworm - everything that can beset a cat. Others just fleas. And everything in between.
I use Revolution on my cats - covers everything and Advocate for my dog.

Good luck with the cat and have fun.
it depends on which particular frontline since there is frontline polus, normal frontline both in drops and also frontline spray. You need to speak to the vet since this is where you will be buying your flea and worm treatments from in future. I hope your kitten has been innoculated otherwise he will be at risk of things much more life threatening than fleas if you let him out. I hope also that he is at least 6 months old and that you will stay with him. Outisde is dangerous for kittens.
When I did my cat 3 years ago.. they never returned. And she spends most of her time outdoors.
Frontline needs to be repeated every three to four weeks. Do not bathe them at least 3 days after application. Good luck.

hello jenna
i have used frontline before, not i use spot on. It has a 3month supply in it . So it was quite easy as they come in 3 tubes, si i just mark the date down on the box and it works for my cats
We do our Frontline every month. Our cats are indoor/outdoors a great deal so we make sure that they get it every month.
It might be costly but it is worth it to make sure that our cats do not have fleas or ticks on them.
hello,
every 3 months cats should be done.
if you are in the UK get it off bestpetpharmacy web site as its a lot cheaper than the vet. also i would worm your kitten as well. i do all my cats at the same time.
frontline is really easy to use and its easier it your kitten is asleep or having a cuddle on your lap.
I switched from Frontline to Program. That's just a drop of liquid that goes on the back of kitty's neck once a month. They hate the smell at first and try to struggle away, but I found it to be more effective than Frontline.
i have been the vets to day you should do it every 3 months
should be used monthly i find every six weeks is fine for my cat
every 4 weeks but i do mine 5-6 weeks in winter and 4 weeks summer
