How to remove pet urine smell from carpet?
she is an old dog and sometimes has small leaks which smell very strong how do i clean it so there is no lingering smell
Answers:
Mix one gallon of white vinegar with one gallon of water. Pour it straight on the area with urine and let is soak the carpet, pad, and sub floor. After letting it sit for about 30 minutes, use a carpet machine to pull out as much solution as you can. Your house may smell like vinegar for a few days, but it will dissipate over time. The vinegar neutralizes the urine smell and your house will smell so clean.
A note of caution !!! DO NOT use FEBREZE ! This is TOXIC to animals! There have been multiple instances of dogs and birds who have died or became very ill after being exposed to Febreze, a deodorizer/air freshener. Febreze contains zinc chloride, which is very dangerous for animals.
Please do not use Febreze anywhere near your pets!
carpet shampoo, reebreeze?
I get this stuff from pet smart that removes the smell. Not sure what the name is, but they carry a few different products. We also use the vacum poweder from arm and hammer.
baking powder made into a paste with water or washing up liquid (dish detergent) worked well for me
It really is going to depend upon how long the urine was on the carpet, the type of carpet (short shag, long shag, etc.), and whether the same spot has been marked repeatedly. You might try Odo-ban, a mix-with-water deodorizer and hospital-grade sanitizer that usually works if the spot has not had enough time to set in. If the spot has been there awhile, the only other options left are to hire a commercial carpet cleaner to try to get the smell out, or throw the carpet away and start over. Good luck.
Use a carpet scrubber but instead of the normal solution use oxyclean and water.then use fabreeze to freshen it up.
Hiya, the best thing I find to use on my carpet was that vanish stain remover. It has a nice smell and also removes the stain. I leave it on for a few minutes then wipe off with a damp cloth. Check with your carpet though to make sure it doesnt remove the colour aswell!
There are many carpet cleaners out there but its just personnnel preference really. That shake n vac stuff is also good to sprinkle on just before you hoover.
Good luck
natures miracle or simple solutions. both are enzyme cleaners that remove the odor, not cover it up. they can be bought at a pet food store. also see a vet sometimes that can be controled with pills.
hi i would suggest bakin powder first, because if you add something that smells nice and mix it with wee, it ends up smellin gross, i would apply this a few times during the day and then rub with a nice smellin product later in the evenin!
A very" weak" solution of amonia and warm soapy water
Nature's miracle is sold in pet stores, and sometimes the super market, and places like target and Walmart (your best pet is the pet store). It's a fluid that you put on the soiled area, and it gets rid of the smell and the stain!
at pet stores there should be some sort of spray on thing. just make there is no poisonous chemical in the spray. for my pup i use natures miracle (sold at petco petsmart etc.)
Washing up liquid is designed to break down fat and biological matter. Pee is also in this category. It is a lot safer for children, pets and just not marking your carpet further. It doesn't leave a smell so it wont be attractive should she smell it and decide to do it in the same place. Also you most always have it in and to hand. Squirt it directly onto the carpet. Get a bowl of water and a cloth and wet area and rub in circular motion. This helps to brake the barrier from the pee as it dries in the air. once you have done this get a old towel or absorbent material. Not tissue as it dissolves and makes more mess. Press in on the wet area and stand on it to get as much out as possible once it has dried a bit hoover area. and voila.. Hope this helps. :-)
I use Spot Shot carpet stain remover.
pet odour remover from pet shops or tonic wter works quiet well too im told.
Anything biological, or with enzymes. If you can get a wet and dry vac it'll be easiest; you might want to get her checked over as it sounds like she has a problem. If the urine smells of acetone or pear drops, you must take her to see the vet at once.
Shake & vac isn't great for dogs, baking soda is safer.
diluted white vinegar was the best tip for me totally vanishes any lingering smells and no it dont smell vinegary
I would probably use any dependable brand carpet cleaner with pet odor remover. Then I would spray the area with a somewhat diluted vinegar--this neutralizes odor and also tends to keep pets from smelling where the urine was and therefore repeating the offense. If they smell it there, they will tend to think it is ok to do it there again. I had fits with my pug urinating in the house until I realized the previous owners had dogs and although there wasn't enough for me to smell that she probably could smell it and I put some vinegar in the carpet shampoo machine as well.
