14 week old yorkie puppy not been its self?

i have a 14 week old yokie puppy and for the last 2 he has sleeping alot. he will go out for walks but olny like for 10 mins even then he will keep stopping to lay down but he is still eating and drinking ok. in the morning he is a happy hyper puppy then he will yapp for no reason like he hurt himself but was not doing anything at the time. then for the rest of the day he will walk around with his head down not wanting to play with toys or his treats. i'm really worryed but it had been warm weather here. i really worryed he is going to vets tomorrow to be chipped. whats up with my puppy?

He really needs that vet check..prehaps you could call and get it set for today. it could be worms, or heart trouble, or cocci, or just anything! I hope you can set the appointment up a day, as thses little guys are quite fragile, and can go downhill too quickly.
he might be sick hun. puppies are usually very energetic.then again, he is a baby and needs to sleep..are you wearing him out? LOL :P
I think you answered it yourself. Its most probably due to the heat.

Puppies at that age only have a very limited amount of energy they can expend. With this heat, dogs reserve a lot of energy for panting (dogs dont sweat).

When your at the vets tomorrow, I am sure he'she will give your pup a quick checkover, and probably put your mind at ease! Good Luck.
My guess is he might have done something to his neck/spine. If he was limping, I would say it was a leg.

It would make sense as to why he feels good when he gets up and then gets worse as the day goes on.

You might try a little massage. It would give you a chance to see if there are any 'tender' spots on him.

It could also be an ear infection. But I'm going with the spine. Think about how you feel when your neck is out of alignment.dogs can get that too.
as long as he is eating and drinking normally there is probably nothing to worry about.the weather is more than likely the cause.you could add rock sulpher to his water( available from decent pet shops ) this helps to cool his blood naturally.see your vet tomorrow and get him checked over
Mention this to the vet BEFORE he gets chipped. They may want to check him out before the chipping. Sounds like there is something going on. I have a very small pomernian that don't walk for long - she just gets tuckered out easily and loves to be carried.
Has he any unexplained swellings around his paws, legs (or anywhere else if he is small ) ? if he has and he trots about in any grass ask the vet to do a blood toxin test on him. Tick bites can cause serious problems to humans as well as dogs. Lethargy can be one of the first signs of tick borne illness.
Don't chip the pup! Why would you want to do that? Is the animal going to run away? The vet only wants your money. It's all about the money! They are only good for a few things. There hasn't been a case of rabies around in 40 years! Try Natures Recipe food, it is chemical & preservative free. It doesn't contain diseased animal parts, or any artificial ingredients. It could be the reaction to any vaccines that you may have given your pup. I believe in supplementation. PLEASE try to find a HOLISTIC vet in your area! Your furry friend deserves better! ALSO, PLEASE READ ABOUT the harmful effects of this ingredient in our shampoos, the next time you take the pooch in for a grooming, you may think about buying shampoo yourself so you will know what is in it instead of letting the groomer use any old thing! I hope this helps!

poor thing, could be the heat. Put small ice cubes in his drinking bowl, see if that helps.
Watch him close and don't let him get too hot, it can cause brain damage in dogs. Have the vet look him over and be sure it's not something serious. Probably nothing to be too conserned over, but better safe than sorry. good luck
I do not want to scare you, but if it is a small yorkie take it in tomarrow and check for degenitive heart disease. I bought one 12+ years ago and it did he same but at 6 wks old and it had a heart attack. the ladie told me afterwards that the smaller one can get it. I was so mad and the vet had to verify that she died from it just to get money back. they should know if weaker before selling.
I hope it is not that just the heat, I have 2 assies now [they just mated today} but ask the vet right away if there is a way to check?
when puppys are young and small and there health gose down hill fast you need to take them straight to the vets and i would not wait i would be there now, get on your coat and go right now.
I'm amazed you haven't taken him to the vets about this. You say he yelps as if in pain, then hangs his head?
Tell the vet tomorrow and get him checked out.
well since he's going to the vet just ask him but he sounds normal i have 3 and they are small and there legs are small so walking long distance isnt one of there strong points so he should be fine
