Will my pup get upset?
had my border collie pup Alfie for 5 weeks now, but i have to go away on Sat. just for 1 day and night to Leeds for family party, my sister has agreed to look after Alfie at her house she also has a puppy and they get along fine, might sound daft but i have Alfie in such a good routine and he is so content I am worried that staying with someone else will upset him, can,t possibly take him with me. Will he be ok.
thanks.

alfie will be fine he will have a great time at your sisters with the other puppy, don't worry
He will have a great holiday for the day and night.
His routine wont really be uspet. It would be more upsetting for him for you to take him with you, anyway so don't worry.
Your puppy will be fine. Dogs are very adaptable - also, like people, they benefit from a break in their routine from time to time.
It will do him good. He will be fine just go away and enjoy yourself
He will be just fine. Think of it this way, while you are going to a party he will be taking a short vacation too.
Send along a piece of clothing that you have recently warn. It will have your sent and will help Alfie feel mor at home. I know it has worked with my pup when I have had to leave her. Good luck and have a nice safe trip.
He'll be fine and will probably have just as much fun as you should have.Have fun and good luck.
It will be good for Alfie. Dogs are like kids in some ways. It is really good for them to get out and meet other doggies, and try new things, have new and exciting experiences. The more new and exciting things your dog gets to do at a young age, the better it will be able to handle stress and changes as it gets older. Otherwise they get grumpy and stubborn and set in their ways, just like spoiled children.
well if he knows your sister and gets on fine with the other dog then he should be fine, dont worry about it
sure your sister Will show him affection and all will be fine
he will be fine. take his own bed and any toys he likes.also his own food. pups should not have new food this as this can upset them
I am the same don't worry dogs are fickle creatures he will be fine
Yes, he will be OK. It is only one day. Once your sis keeps his company and feeds him, he will soon forget about you.
One advice though, do not get him such attached to you as it gets more difficult . My dogs would not eat if I was not there. When abroad for work, I had to phone home twice/day to get them to eat when a member of my family leave the phone near them to recognise my voice. It is a very expensive love.
Yeah, he'll be fine. Just be ready for him to lose his mind with joy when you return. He may pee just a little when he sees you b/c he may lose a little bladder control but don't go nuts over it. He may even have a little loose stool the first time he poops upon your return. Again, don't freak out. That's normal. If the loose stool continues for more than 2-3 times then put him on a bland diet of cooked cheap rice and the cheapest hamburger meat you can get. It's easy on his stomach and easy to digest. but looks freaky when he passes it. :D Been there, done that.
It might put him a bit out of routine and he'll probably be a bit unsettled with excitement when you get him back home but its actually a great opportunity for him to get used to a different house, another dog and learn lots of manners. he'll have a great time! Enjoy your time away.

you are very much like me. I rescued a wee Westie on January 21st. I had no Holidays planned but to my surprise my younger sister was taken my mum and me to Spain in May. What a worry for me. I didn't want to go because of my dog but i had to. My friend Debbie has 3 dogs of her own and she minded Lady for me. What a shock when i got back Lady was having the time of her life. 2 weeks i was away for and i promise you i was lucky getting her back, she loved it there. Of course she was glad to see me and that night i let her sleep with me. She has her own big bed beside me but i did miss her so much. Your only going for one day your wee dog won't mind enjoy yourself.
Your puppy will be fine - have a great trip & your little one will be so pleased to see you when you get back! It's only overnight - it's not like it's a year or anything :)
I'm sure he will be fine as long has he has company and my god the love he will give you when u come home will be over whelming
Dogs adapt to their sorroundings, as long as ur sister gives him enough attention he will be fine.I know its hard leaving them ( I have two dogs that I spoil rotten) but its a part of life, you cant have your life revolve around him.
no, he wont he will 发疯 =)
sounds like you don't have a choice, tell your sister his routine and ask her to try and stay with it I'm sure she won't mind if she knows how worried you are..
Good question and it's good to know that you are concerned about his welfare.
Dogs are a big responsibility, but you can't be expected to put your life on hold TOTALLY. So you've found someone he knows to look after him, somewhere he likes. Don't worry, you're doing the right thing.
Make sure he has a few of his favourite toys, his bed (unwashed so it smells familiar to him) and an old t-shirt of yours (again - unwashed). Familiar smells will help him to settle.
Enjoy yourself. I'm sure Alfie will too.
