I want to get my 3 year old a pet what should i get him?
Answers:
My choice would *definitely* be a cat or kitten.
As far as hamsters go, they have more of an instinct to bite than gerbils and mice. Mice pee a LOT, I had to constrantly clean teh cage (daily!) and it still smelled horrible. A gerbil is a desert animal, doesn't pee as much and therefore doesn't SMELL anywhere near as bad.
I think another good choice would be a hermit crab (maybe that is similar to the snail mentioned above? I'm not familiar with the snail mentioned before). My kids have a hermit crab and love it.
Of course, a goldfish is a good first pet, very easy. but he can't hold it, which is a drawback. I also have a newt, he is peretty neat too, but again you're not supposed to handle it much.
Get pregnant.
A fake dog.
A gold fish
African Land Snails. Easy to look after, and they won't scratch!
Tiger! Bengal variety.
Very loving apparently!
self cleanning what ever it is .
a goldfish. something he cant pick up and squeeze/throw around.
You can't go wrong with a cat
why dont you buy him a cute big bunny rabitte all kids love big bunnys and it works every time.
either a goldfish or a hamster children love these as pets and thay dont have to be taken for walks or you dont have to pick the s**t out of the garden
i think u should get a cat or dog,if he's alergic then get him a fish or turtleor possibly a lizard!!
Agree snails are great! guinea pigs are good as they are not to speedy and will sit and cuddle for a while, I wouldn't get a kitten, judging by ours, he's very scratchy and I would be worried about a child rubbing up the wrong way and getting 'the treatment', go to your pet shop for advice. Don't forget that you will be caring for the animal, and it needs to be something that can take a certain amount of loving 'abuse'!
A tortoise - pretty indestructable
Get him a hamster. They are cute, fuzzy, may instill some responsibility, and they die in 2 years. He will learn about loss. Then he will be ready for a fish. Fish are more maintenance. But by then you can be sure that he knows about being responsible.
Got mine 2 Gold fish when he was nearly 4 and he called them Peter & George. beware though Its not that easy to keep um clean lot of work. We also have 2 dogs & 4 Cats which we had before we had him and he gets on well with them all.
Fish - they virtually look after themselves and stay in one place. You can teach about feeding the fish at bed time and cleaning the tank. It can also make i nice night light in the room if needed. You can go together and pick out the style of tank and what objects and fish to put in it - if your kid grows bored of it at least you will be able to look after it without to much trouble. Once older you can start on pets which need more attention and time.
a 3 year old kid to have a pet is not advisable. coz geting a pet needs a lot of prepration not only for your child but also for the animal. Coz if your not prepared the pet might hurt your child or the child might hurt the pet. But if your willing to assist your child, get him a love birds. It would be an apple to the eye of a child;more when they sings. Or better consult a veterinarian. hope it helps. im a pet lover too!
a budgie is a great first pet treat him right and you can let them out of their cage and they will sit on your shoulder while you watch tv,read etc.
a cat
none, animals are not toys or gifts and should never be given as presents to anyone, especially not a child
I have two house-rabbits and think they make brilliant pets. They're really easy to house train, very clean and big enough to be handled by a small child without any problems.
a french lop eared rabbit is a good choice.my mum has one and my baby is 18 months old she pulls him and stands on him and all he does is run off if he has had enough. also they are very loving pets.
A bunny rabbit
Get him some fish, if he can show he can look after those then maybe a hamster in a year or two's time
a hamster there easy to handle and cute
Not a rabbit.
A three year old with a pet? are u bonkers little kids dont understand when there being rough and as soon as they bite surely that would be the end?. And as for fish it would be you taking care of it ALL the cleaning, water changes and feeding so y not just get him toys.
He is too young to appreciate pets and there is the chance that any rough handling will result in your son getting bitten, or an animal getting injured. If you must have a pet, go for a couple of goldfish in a proper tank and look after them yourself. Your son can help with feeding and care until he is old enough to appreciate larger animals.
A 3yo with a pet? I feel incredibly sad for any animal you give to a 3 year old. They have no concept of pain or death and will readily distribute both without a backwards glance.
It is an irresponsible human that would place an animal in such danger, not to mention the injuries that could result to your child when the animal in pain defends it's life against your child.
Buy your child an Elmo TMX. You don't have to squeeze the life out of it to get a response.
