Answers:
Try your local sewer, rats are surprisingly hygenic creatures. It was the flea that caused the black death not rats.
Most good pet shops have them, depends on what lind you want.
Or you could try your local rescue, our last one is a rescue rat.
We got him about a year ago, from our local small animal rescue charity, he's an Agouti hooded called Spike. He was vewry timid as he had been meglected a bit, but he's great now, very friendly, clean, very very cheeky. You can see pics of him on my 360.
If you live in Wirral, there are loads of pet shops that sell rats infact most UK pet shops probably sell rats! Why on earth do you want a rat? Get a hampster instead ha ha! lol! Good luck searching for your rat!!
Here you go - if your local petshop doesn't have any in stock then try this - it's a list of breeders all over the UK:
