We have a3 year old westy called tessa.how can i stop for barking at everthing that moves.?

Answers:
Good Luck. I have 3 dogs and 2 of them will bark at a leaf or their own shadow. I have purchased no bark collars but they don't really work. You might try taking Tessa to behavior classes.
just keep him accupied r inside the house r take him places
everytime the dog barks, spank him or punish him so he knows not to bark. it worked for my dog.(well, not that much but it kinda helped!)
When you find out let me know.my Beau (a Cantel) barks at anything that walks, rides, drives or jogs by my house. Can't let him out for five minuetes he make such a pest of himself. He is just soooooooo possessive.
Spank her ever time she barks and say no. Works every time
Whenever she starts barking at something, show her a different response - i.e. make her sit and stop barking. If she persists, make her lay on her back - this shows submission and that you are the top dog in the pack. She must obey you. Every time she does the barking thing, interrupt that behavior and replace it with a new one - how you want her to react. Eventually, she will learn to react the way you want her to.

It's helping me with my dog.
anti barking collars are a painless way to train a dog to stop barking try this site for further info http://www.petplanet.co.uk/petplanet/hea.
Get a water pistol and every time she barks and you don't want her to then shoot at her. You will be surprised how quickly it works.

It took my 4 year old dog about 15 minutes to work it out and she's cured now.

Good luck
I agree with Sal your pal.squirt them /it with water..works great.
I have 4 yappy dogs..should say did have, now they are not so yappy, all I have to do is show them the hose or water pistol.

My neighbors were complaining it was so bad. I had to do something to quiet them down.

It won't hurt your dog..it's just water. PS. works great for dog fights too. My neighbors dog attacked mine and I threw a bucket of water over it, the shock factor gave me time to grab my much smaller dog and save it.
Maybe you could try dog training classes..! You never know, it may work. I'd love to know how you get on because I have a Jack Russell that goes absolutely berserk in a car. He barks from start to finish of the journey - so it makes it hard taking him to different places because you end up getting a really bad headache. You can't even talk to other people in the car because his bark is deafening.
I definitely don't agree with punishing them..that's just nasty and cruel.
Dont move? Blind fold?
You could try firing a water pistol at her to discourage her, but I had to give my Doberman loads of praise when he barked, repeating "speak" to him, then when he stopped, telling him "Quiet", with more praise. It took a couple of weeks before he cottoned on. Now he still barks at everything that moves, but will stop when I tell him to.
see a behaviourist if you can they are trained to find cause and change the behavior

be careful with just hiting or punishing she may not understand why and it can produce a fear response
Set something up e.g if she barks at a leaf say no and as soon as she is quiet reward her with a treat.
its sounds like tessa has very acute senses. she will see more clearer than other dogs, probably look like shes watching the tv intently, hear things more acutely, beware of fireworks and high pitched whistle noises will iritate her ears and she will smell more sensitively, look out for her suddenly appearing from nowhere when you get the sausage roll out ! seriously though please be understanding to your dogs exceptional senses and try to find good environments for her - good luck i have a sensitive westie too!
Tell everything to stand still
well if you do figure it out, please let me know as i got a lab who sits in the window waiting for some thing to bark at, he's a pain in the .
try watching the dog whisper he gives some help hints its not the dog that needs to b retrained its us.
fill a plastic bottle with stones.

when she misbehaves, shake it. She'll get the message quickly.
i would say try to tell her that they won't hurt her i have a 6 year old collie cross and he barks constantly i would suggest that you tell her everything is ok or just put her outside when she is continously barking that's what mi dad does only for 5 minutes so she can have a look and then call her in and fuss her so she knows there is nothing to be afraid of
