How do I get my boyfriend to let me have a dog? We live in his condo but I really want one.?
The dog is a 3 year old Schnoodle and it is already potty trained. Currently it belongs to my aunt, but she can't keep it, she is moving somewhere that doesn't allow dogs. My boyfriend doesn't like small dogs, and it is pretty small. It's so friendly, I think he would like it if he met it, but it is too far.

A dog is a huge addition to a relationship. You can't just do what you want and get it even if he doesn't want one. You need to have a serious talk with him about the dog. If he still doesn't want it, then let it go. It's a decision that will affect both of you, so it needs to be made by both of you.
Do what you want to do. Your boyfriend cannot run your life. Get the dog if you want it and tell him to get over it!
Will the condo association let you have a dog? Mine won't let us have more than two pets neither to weigh more than 30 lbs.
It is unfair on the dog to introduce it to a home where 1 person doesn't want it. Trainers see problems caused by this kind of family upset. Just bringing the dog home is a very bad idea, your boyfreind will be mad and resent the dog.
Since its his condo you need to think this through. You asked him, but then you want to ignore him when he says no?
It's up to him if it's his condo.
You can't keep it locked in there while you go out/go to work/go on holiday etc. Even though it's a small dog, it's a massive responsibility. He's being very sensible, you should listen.
What happened to "Miss Independant" if ur boy friend is there to run your life you don't need him as long as you help pay some of the bills you should be allowed to do whatever you want. Even if it means getting a dog ur boyfriend hates.you shouldn't live ur life according to him.
you could try bending over for him and show him some true dogie style, that might change his mind

jus get the dog, he'l prob fall in love with it anyway. if not tough luck. worst case scenario he'l get thick for a while, he wont leave ya if he loves ya. and if he does he aint worth it.
You may be right. Your boyfriend may grow to love this dog if he were to give it a chance. But it would be disrespectful of his wishes to just move the dog in without his approval. If the tables were turned.on an issue you were hesitant about.you might not be very pleased either.
It sounds like this is very important to you. If it truly is as important to you as it sounds, then perhaps you would consider making the trip to your aunt's so your boyfriend could meet the dog and evaluate it for himself. That's really the fairest way.
The other option that I can see involves getting your boyfriend's okay to borrow the dog on a trial basis. But this is a tough angle, because if he decides he doesn't want the dog, then you have to find another home for it after getting further attached.
I hope that this helped some.
If the one person in the relationship is against the pet it is the pet who will suffer.
You also will suffer if you force this dog on him or into his life.
I work with a rescue and have picked up more dogs than I can count they were suprise "gifts" to some one
or that were bought for a Mom or Dad who had no clue and did not want the dog.
Or that were for a BF or GF who did not want the dog.
It causes huge problems in the realtionship and whinning about it will not help. If he does not want a dog respect his wishes.
Dicuss why he does not and find out if there is a problem maybe you can sway him but if not shut up and get over it.
If you force a pet into this situation you and thepet will regret it.

Tell your boyfriend it's your desition to have a dog in your life. Just stand up to him. Or just promise him that it's your responsibility, care, and love for your dog always.
Tell him all the advantages and that it'll never go in his way. If he says no, go move somewhere else.
Since it is his Condo then he has the final say. If he doesn't want the dog then so be it.
dump your boy and get the dog
I actually did not know my girlfriend put this up. Anyways, let me tell you something. First of all, dogs are great. However, the time needed to take care of a dog is something that we dont have. Many dogs need to be kept in a kenel because they are not trustworthy in a house/condo (with a leather couch). While I am at work 9 hours a day (plus driving time) and the girlfriend is at work for 8 hours (pretty much 7-5 a day) what fun will a dog have in a little condo. If the dog is younger, he will need some potty training, and more. I would teach him tricks, but the time needed to be around a dog should be more than a few hours a day. This is why a dog is a bad idea for people who do not have the time to take care of it. What do you guys think. Should we have a dog that we dont have time for?
get rid of your boyfriend and find a place of your own, then get a dog!
