Why is horse riding dust for the young girls and woman and not men as i love horse riding and i hate football?
Answers:
not too many males are interested in the equestrian arts, its more or less considered a feminine sport except for the cowboys and rodeo part
its not.. my best friend is male and rides endurance horses and both my sons ride and so does my husband, not just ranch work. he rides for pleasure and trails and endurance, i know a lot of men that ride, rodeo. pleasure. trails. endurance and reining and showing, men are in it all the time. nothing better than just getting on and going for a ride, dont know where you are from but out west here men do it all the time..
Then Ride! Anyone who thinks Riding is a "girlie" sport, hasnt riden accross Country jumping SOLID fences. It is hard work, you need courage, stamina and belief in yourself and your horse.
Its great for your peace of mind, you get tons of fresh air and it teaches you responsibility for something other than yourself.
It is much more fun than football.yawn!
You go for it!
Men horse ride !
Go 4 it.
Ride,Boy!Ride! It is good for all!Love it & I ride with male & female horse lovers!Who said it was a girly sport?
its mainly girls who ride but there are also alot of boys/men who ride aswell so really its a sport for everyone!
some of my best students are men! and there is something damn sexy about a man who rides well. for gods sake don't wear jods though - jeans and full chaps please boys!
Get out there and find a good riding school and I'll bet you will be surprised how many men ride.
Look at the likes of Tim Stockdale for inspiration and for years now alot of competitive equestrian sports have been dominated by men.
Have fun, it's the ultimate partnership when you and your horse totaly trust each other.
Good luck!
My daughter does horse riding and there are quite a few boys and men at her stables. Girls might be attracted to it because of the cute ponies. But it's a tough sport.
I have had and ridden race horses all my life and it is a sport that is still dominated by the males. outside racing i have ridden and competed with a mix of female and males, there is nothing wrong or feminine abuot a man on a horse and just think about the toned arms and legs your going to get, the women and the men will be jealous.lol
Have a look at the world ranking in equestrian sports and you'll find that more than half of the top riders are men. Check out the Whittaker family who've won most titles between them. Remember Harvey Smith - I don't think anyone could ever accuse him of being girlie, and his son Robert is now a top rider. Equestrian sports are hard work, but if you want to do it, just go for it!
Good for you! At my farm, it is mostly girls, but there are a couple of lads too. There is nothing better than horse riding and it is ten times harder to master than football, so you stick with it! And besides, there is nothing like the sight of a man in breeches and boots to make a girl go weak at the knees!!
i like horses. it's not just women.
if you notice its the boys that are at the top ie show jumping, eventing and dressage. Keep riding boy.
marry me !!
i know your right. i have horses and would love a man to ride with me xxxx
It's not! my boyfriend wants to learn to ride but he can't at the moment, and both my riding teacher's sons ride and compete. the person who is buying my friend's horse is male too! if you are worried about being discriminated against because you are male, book some private lessons until you are confident enough to show people you ride and you're proud!
There is nothing wrong with men riding horses. If you want to ride, then go. Don't worry about what people think.
I myself find that there is nothing more relaxing than firing up a pipe or cigar and taking a long trail ride on one of my horses.
Theres nothing wrong with guys riding! And trust me theres nothing girly about waking up at 5 in the mourning to clean stalls, feed horses, groom, tack and then ride a green horse over fence in the hot sun! You really do have to be tough and willing to get dirty, however not a lot of men see that and find the sport girly!
I think more guys should get into riding- I think male riders are hot! And I know I'm not the only one :) Except for when they wear jodpurs-hehe.
riding is for everybody hon, i have been riding for 17 years, and a few years ago my husband decided to give it a go, tho he is reluctant to wear jodhs, (jeans are ok) but he wears the proper footwear and has a secure skull cap,
we both own our own horses now and enjoy hacking out together.
id say its brought us closer, tho he'd never catch me playing golf! (lol)
if you wanna ride then honey you go for it!
more and more men are riding now a days anyway. dont let the stereo types give you a complex.
xxx
have fun!
I have quite a few lesson students that are male, of all ages as well. It just seems dominated by women. If you notice that the more professional riders tend to be just as many men as women.
We do need more men involved in the sport, but they are there. Feel free to join, and enjoy.
you are going to the wrong places ././/////////////
It's not a female sport. There are several male Olympic riders in several disciplines. Frank Madden, George Morris, Bruce Davidson, Buck Davidson, David O'Connor, Frank Chapot, Jeff Cook, Rodrigo Pessoa, Chris Kappler, Kevin Babington, Jim Wofford, Ken Berkley.that's just off the top of my head. And it's not even counting Western riding.
having worked in the horse industry for 9 years i can see how it looks like a female only area but there are lots more men riding than you think you just need to find the right establishment for yourself.
I know alot of men who horse ride. Most of the boys who used to do it when i was yunger discovered girls and gave up. i thinkl the only men who really take horse riding seriously are those who are really, genuinely interested and in it because they want too, not because their parents have forced them too.
Horse riding is for anyone who has the desire to do it.never heard of cowboys.if you enjoy it and have the opportunity..go ahead.
In the competition world of eventing, and showjumping i would say that there are more males who compete than females, so get out there n give it a go!
