3yo pony broken, thrown a splint on inside of leg should i carry on riding him/turn away. will the splint go.?

cause splints will grow out with the skin anyway
No wonder he got a splint if ya been riding him a lot at 3yrs old, but anyway that's beside the point at the moment. 1st stop riding him/her. 2nd get the vet in to examine the pony, 3rd the vet will almost certainly tell you this.turn him/her away for the winter to allow the leg to rest. 4th in future be careful as to what ground you ride hard on.

you should contct your vets as the spilt could get worst by you riding him as you are putting persure on his leg if the vet advises you not to ride him dont as you could do him more damage hope this helped
Don't ride, give the pony time to heal.
3 is young unless your only doing very light work. turn him/her away for the winter. the splint shouldnt cause a problem but if you carry on it definatly will. bones are still growing and hardening at that age so be kind and let your pony mature abit more.
You should always contact a vet when something big like that happens. But in my experience with them, they are there for good. It's a blemish, and an unsoundness. Most likely it won't caouse her any problems, it will just look bad. Make sure and ALWAYS use support boots/wraps on your horse when training or riding them, especially young horses.
if a thoroughbred is bred to go flat racing it is broken and racing by the age of two so i see no harm in breaking a three year old pony, but yes i have seen alot of splints on young horses but unless they are lame i would always carry on. 99% of horses wouldnt be lame, good job really or we wouldnt be watching the flat racing on television this afternoon. Tensolvet is a very good cream to rub into it to reduce any swelling, it will get smaller. good luck
