Police will fine us if we don't clean up after our dogs, so why do they not clean up after their horses?
Answers:
They have city sanitation workers for that. :-)
b/c they're the policemen, they make the law, not us. crappy thing, but can you help it?
I wouldn't want to walk around your yard.
very good question, kind of like why are police allowed to speed, but normal people aren't.
because there are a hell of a lot more people with dogs, and horse manuer is good for the soil unlike dog crap. They are doing a job so you either pay them to do it or pay the city workers to do it. They risk their lives protecting you and you whine about picking up crap?
I think the same I'm always tiptoeing through horse sh it, I do pick up after my dog, but not in the woods. Luckily my dog is fussy where she poos and I have trained her to use the toilet area section off in my garden.
I asked this question to a horse lover and i got the following answer. 'There are toxins and parasites in dog poo, and horse manure there is only hay and natural organisims'
Dont believe it myself. One rule for one, another for the other.
because they know that someone in the road is goin to run out with his shovel and collect it to put on the garden !!
good question!.they think rules don't apply to them.most likely
Dude, they are cops. The preach and don't practice
good question, I think all poo on the sidewalk, road should be cleaned up by somebody! Perhaps the police can add this to their list of jobs!
I do not know why your local law enforcement does not police itself. The 'pooper scooper' laws in most towns are directed at dogs and specifically name dogs as the target of the ordinance. This is a public health issue and the law should be enforced for everyone.
They probably feel they're above the law and don't have to clean up after their horses.
This annoys me! I live in the country and i'm sick of having to hop around horse muck. Some other countries horses have to wear a bag to catch it.
Hardly the same thing. horses waste is fairly natural and dog mess harbours bacteria and disease.
Now just grow up, buy some poo bags and clear up after your mutt.. personally I wouldn't fine you. I would rub your nose in it!
Imagine a 'horsey bag' ? anyhow the poor horse has to carry enough cr*p around without bags of his own.
Horse manure is wanted by so many people for their gardens. it's like free gifts from the police! It doesn't float my boat but hey!
I suppose it might be that some dogs eat meat where as horses don't. The main reason for picking up after the dog is that in some cases small children have gone blind from handling dog poo, lovely kids! Horses poo has no harmful stuff in it as they mainly eat hay
as a dog and horse owner:
1 Dog muck can contain toxicara canis which can cause blindness in children
2 dog muck, i would not pick up with my hands.
3 Horse muck is organic and good for the soil, is full of nutrients
4 horse muck is just fermented grass/fibre, i would pick it up with my hands.
5 if you tread in dog muck it stinks to high heaven, if you tread in horse muck, it's not so bad.
6 rain washes horse muck down the drain, dog muck takes a hell of a lot more to get rid of.
Personally, i hate cat muck, they bury it so when you go digging for stuff it surfaces and is the devil's own job to get off a garden fork and IT STINKS.
Hope this helps and you enjoy your organically grown vegetables.
The police are following the law. No horse rider has to pick up their horses mess.
Dog poo is bad, horse poo just looks bad.
I agree with you on that. next time you see a horse taking a dump, walk up and ask the officer WHY? I would if I lived near that situation. instead we have the useless Amish horses crapping all over our back roads so we just drive through it and get it all over our cars.
I've yet to hear of ONE dog owner being fined despite our council wasting thousands on little signs everywhere.
because they get away with it and they are doing a public duty i think their is people paided to clean the streets after them maybe there just not doing a good job
cos the police commit more crimes than us innocents and they can get away with it
I TOTALLY AGREE!! I always clean up after my dog.
I used to live near a street that was frequently used by horse riders and so was also frequently covered in horse dung. One pile of poo deposited by a horse is very nearly the same size as my dog, and is far more messy, smelly and offensive than anything my dog could produce.
If any animal poops on the pavement it should be cleared up!
Horse droppings are filled with bacteria such as e coli and may also be contaminated with parasites. Also, the excess nitrogen it adds to the water supply could lead to algae overgrowths and eutrophication.
Not only do I own dogs, I some times ride horses.
Dog crap is much more offensive and needs to be cleaned up on health grounds. Horse crap however can be lethal to motor cyclists. Imagine coming around a bend and hiting a steaming pile of dung in the wet. Not good
Clean it up !
Feces are feces. All this stuff about horse poo being good for the ground and dog poo being contaminate crap is just manure!!
Both excrete large numbers of bacterial in their feces and both if turfed will biodegrade. Makes me kind of laugh that people put dog crap into a plastic bag so the environment is saved from something that will biodegrade and the landfills are getting more and more cluttered with plastic dog poo bags that will never biodegrade! Stupid huh?
But I agree, if you have any kind of animal that you are in control of (don't know how this would apply to cat owners) so dog, horse etc. you should remove their feces if it is not on your property, it is common courtesy, and I bad all of my dogs poo.
There are arguements that it might be dangerous to get off a horse and collect its feces in which case fitting the horse with a tail bag may be the best method but it is unfair that dog owners are required to pick up after their pets and horse owners aren't, discriminates against dogs and their poo is 1/8 the size of a horses!
Maybe the police don't clean up after their horses because they're trying to do their job, being police men. Someone probably gets paid to clean it up for them. How much do you wanna bet that if they did get off to clean it up your post would say "Why are out taxes going to pay the police who are wasting time cleaning up their horse's poo instead of doing their jobs and catching criminals?" And dog poo is much worse, and actually doesn't break down very easily, that's why people don't use it as manure.
Doesn't matter if it's horse crap, dog crap or cat crap, it is waste matter, faeces or excrement and there are always bacteria, parasites, germs or microorganisms and as such they are not only harmful to us but also stinking and an unpleasant sight to see.
horse **** is good for the environment and ppl shouldnt walk on the road anyway
