Should Guide Dogs be allowed in Restaurants?
Answers:
hi,
yeah i feel that they should be as this allows the owner to have freedom, but i think that they should be kept away from people who dont like dogs, as not everyone likes dogs liking their bum and then others, not sure this would happen though for a guide dog. I have seen some people that have had to leave the dog near the door or in the corner next to the owner, away from everyone else as some didnt like the dog in their but he just went to sleep while they were eating.
I can see both points of view here, yes they are needed for the owner but some people see it as unhygenic, personaly im not bothered as long as the dog owner is happy with what is happening.
people shouldnt have a go at him because he is only asking a sensible question, he hasnt said that it should be banned, dogs are discusting etc has he NO, so leave him alone.
They should be allowed in as they're a necessity not a pet!
I've seen cleaner DOGS than some Humans!
yes for blind people.
I have a friend who is blind and who has a guide dog and he's never been allowed to have the dog at the table with him its always kept at the door or near the door and he is assisted to his table and aided personally by the staff.
Don't be an idiot! All service dogs are allowed restaurants, planes, buildings, etc. as long as they are clearly marked as a service dog by vest or harness.
Service dogs provide the biggest gift they can give: Independence and Freedom.
yes they should because guide dogs are the peoples' life.. of course they can't read a menu, but maybe the person isn't blind and just immobile and can still read?
Definatly not allowed in!!
People are way more dirty than any animal we are the ones who spread diseases
you must live in the trailer park ghetto ..you should get out more than you realize that Animals are cleaner than you think
Yes they should, They're trained to do a higher purpose of tasks, they dont cuase problems and they are not so unpredictable. They just sit on the carpet, where your shoes have been, the same shoes that you might have trod in fox-dung with a week ago?
What does licking have to do with anything? Are you suggesting that they will lick their butts and then go around and lick people's plates? I don't get your point.
Guide dogs are not "pets," they are highly trained service animals. In the US, the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits any business, government agency, or other organization that provides access to the general public from barring guide dogs. That includes restaurants.
Of cause they should, they are there doing a job they are trained for.
yes, yes, yes. they are companions to those in need of help. they guide people around and the dogs help them to find their way around. they are much more highly trained than any other dog, and all they do is lie beside their owner during dinner. they are more than companions in some ways, they are their eyes. there is something more there than what most people see when they see a dog and their owner. it is a very expensive dog. highly trained. they really dont act irrationally and be ignorat like you may expect.
yes
yes.
r u mentally ill seriouly cummon dogs shud b allowed in its like sayin no tht person cant get in there eyes r unhygeinic. not asif a hamster is gonna help u get into the restraunt. ur being really stoopid and u shud eat on the street or in ur house if u dnt like them deing in there
Of course.This is a no-brainer.
I've got friends with guide dogs. Believe me, the dogs are better behaved than a lot of the people at some of those restaurants! No begging, they cram themselves as far under the table as possible so they're out of the aisle, and I've never heard one bark in such a setting.
If I were blind like them, I would not feel comfortable with a strange person helping me, not knowing my own abilities and limitations. If I want to go to the ladies' room, I would want to simply take my dog, not wait for a waitress to guide me there!
Other pets would almost certainly not be as well behaved as a guide dog, and how could you confirm this beforehand a guide dog is trained to the highest level this we already know.
The person with the disability doesn't just need to be able to read the menu they will also move around the restaurant to go to the loo etc, also what restaurant could afford to pay a member of staff to look after the needs of one individual customer. As long as food handlers are not petting the animal and then serving or preparing food then there is no higher risk of airborne contamination from the dog sitting quietly by a table than every time the door is opened from the street.
That is a definite yes there a necessity not a pet bureaucrats make me mad
yes they should they have right to be if thay are truly a guide dog
YES
Yes,absoulutly, people need these dogs to function like everybody else.Plus these dogs are professionally trained to behave better than most children in the public.
Yes they should be allowed in due to the handicapped conditions. As long as they dont have any accidents and do not bite people they should be allowed in under all surcomstances.
I think it a shame that you should even consider such a question. What have you been doing, trying to come up with something to upset people?
That a person comes up with a question like that would suggest to me that you have not been around as long as guide dogs.
no more unhygienic than the cook or the waiter who handles your food after he's been to the toilet and not washed afterwards, or having a good scratch around various parts of the body and touching everything. I'd prefer well behaved pets any day to people with unsavoury habits, not to mention those who take their hatred on unsuspecting customers by peeing or spitting in food and drink.
I think all dogs should be allowed in resturants etc .. they are part of your family and mines make less mess than my kids ! We holiday in France , just so we can take our dogs , the french have it sorted .. dogs are welcome everywhere , here in Scotland they get left in the car while ppl eat , thats not fair .
guide dogs should be allowed entry into any building .
