My seven year old japanese spitz dog is almost blind,i got a japnese spitz ***** to keep him company?

but he will not accept her and keeps barking and snapping and stripping his teeth at her ,will they ever become good friends

Answers:
Spitz are vocal but if your dog is nearly blind and is suddenly faced with an intruder on his territory who he cant see well then he will be on the defencive.
if they have separate areas so that they become familiar with each others scent and the new dog is introduced gradually on a lead preferably on neutral territory the problem should resolve it self in time.
if the new dog is a pup a lot of older dogs are very apprehensive even frightened of them I had a male Border collie who would not go past the pen when my ***** had pups but once they were older he accepted them . remember puppies can be very rough and surprise dogs with sudden movements and playful nips. Give them time, controlled access to each other preferably with them both on leads followed by your resident free and the ***** on the lead and then both free supervised and do not try to rush things.
give them some sushi
The male dog just has to get use to the smell of the other dog, once he does, i'm sure it will be alright :)
If they arn't getting along (like they arn't) then try putting them in different rooms witha baby gait seperating it. They can slowly get to know each other and will be able to smell each other. then put them both on a leash and let them meet nose to nose.

good luck!
yes they need to learn there diffences then they will get to know eachother then spend time together
Lots of older adults don't tolerate young puppies very well and your spitz has the handicap of bad sight so he feels even more threatened by this puppy.

What you should have done and can still do, is put them in separate rooms with a baby gate between them. Let your older dog get used to the puppy's smell. When he seems ok with it don't rush it, give him lots of time), put them in a room together. You need to make sure he can always get away from the puppy when the puppy is bugging him.

If he was a well-socialized dog, he should acept the puppy in time - with some common-sense help from you.
Thats preaty much a maybe answear. An old dog not feeling well will not put up with a new dog,but then times they do
what a shame, you must be very upset about that. It seems very young to go blind though. One of mine is going blind (siberian husky ). but he is 13 so it is to be expected. I would think they will be become friends in time, he is just protecting his den and probably a bit wary because he cant see very good, everything will be a threat to him. Is she likely to come in season ? if so watch him become friends then lol. Just remember if he cant see very well dont move your furniture about to often or he will bump into things and it will confuse him. best wishes to the little man.
