How to get my budgies to talk?
i have 2 budgies i think there girls im not sure there ceres change colour but anyway, they are nearly a year old and one of them will not go near us yet, tho the other one will happily jump on your finger and sit on your shoulder, it sounds like its trying to say pretty pretty and it has said it once before but does anyone no how we could get it to say it again, we always say it and it just chirps back in budgie langugue but sounds like its trying to say it
Answers:
Just keep talking to them. And start out with one syllable words first, like hi. After one starts the other will follow too. The more different sounds they make the better. That means they are at least trying. Don't give up. This may take a while, but it will work if you are patient!!
shine alight in their faces and interrogate them like the gestapo in old WWII films, should work
you just have to catch the bird the next time she says it. when she says it next, feed her more food or bird treats.basically give her a reward for saying the word and she will catch on and learn that you like it when she says it. keep talking to her and she will talk back to you more - she will pick up more words.
The best way is to keep repeating simple, one syllable words over and over again.. It might and probably will learn to repeat
u cant
Pretty tough to get a pair to talk..
One bird will get lonely and talk to you..
Two birds will just talk to each other.
if they hear it enough they will try to mimic you. or they will repeat it so you will leave them alone...
If you say the same thing often enough a budgie will sometimes copy it, some never do.
In my experience with Budgies - only Males are the talkative ones and only if they are on their own without other Budgies for companions. But keep persisting with your Girl one.
Is the bridge on the beak Brown (girl) or Blue (boy)?
The best way to get a talking bird is to get one fresh from the nest, before it has had a prolonged exposure to other birds. This will cause the bird to identify with you and mimic you instead of other birds. Yours sadly to say are now too old for this to work effectively. Repetition of the phrase over and over is the only chance that perhaps the bird will learn it.
On training the bird to sit on your finger, take the shy bird into a small room where you can reach it either with your hand or a stick (like a yardstick). Bathrooms are great for this. Let the bird out. If the bird lands on something other than your hand or shoulder, like the curtain rod, prod the bird to move. Do not let the bird remain on anything but your hand or shoulder, head or whatever on your person. Eventually the bird will either get the idea on its own or tire to the point that it will not resist climbing onto you finger when offered. You want the bird to equate you with rest and safety.
To catch a budgie that is loose in the house, lower the lights and pull the shades. Budgies don't have good low light vision. This way you can approach the bird without it flying away before you get there.
just repeatb the word clearly it takes ages for budgies to repeat, but once they do they never forget, it a one word process all the way
A male budgie will talk more than a female and more if it is not with other budgies. Just keep repeating the same words and make sure the budgie is listening to you.
You do a puppy muttering sound
Record yourself saying a word, about 1-2 syllables long for a couple minutes. PLay it to the budgie all the time. When The budgie says something that sounds like the word, even a tweet like the word, give it a reward.
Some budgies don't ever talk. I have had two in the past and neither got beyond saying their own name. If you repeat words ofetn enough some will copy them, but no guarantees. I think parrots and mynah birds are the best 'talkers'.
Unfortunately, two Budgies together will not talk as you would like them to. The way they talk now, is probably the best they will be. The reason being, they will talk to each other and not to you. Secondly, your birds are too old now. If you want a Budgie that talks well, you need a single male bird, under 4 months of age. Being on his own,his attention will be focused on you,not another bird. Are you sure they are a year old? Their cere's should have their mature colours by now, blue for a male, brown for female. Do your birds get along? You say they are both females? Its very unusual for two female Budgies not to fight.
I was once told to keep them in the dark and repeat the same things to them, as they will have nothing else to focus on, they will listen intently and begin to repeat what you're saying.
The best thing would be if they were separated but it is most likely to late now,and male budges and usually blue ones make the best talkers. But you have to talk continually to them, then they mimic you. They are more responsive to the female voice for some reason.!
birds in pairs rarely bond with their owners..single birds should not have a mirror in the cage because they will bond with the image of themself lol..try whistling the same tune to your birds over and over..dont try to teach them too many things at once. They never perform when you want them too either so id just love them the way they are and if they choose to perform its a bonus
Strap the oxford englsh dictionary to the cage and change the page each day, by the time its read it all you'll have a real clever budgie that knows more words than you hahaha
There is a very good chance that because you have two budgies they will not talk, once two are together the chances of either of the talking is very slim. If you do want them to talk you have to start with very simple words like you do with a baby and be very repetative and spend loads and loads of time with them.
if you could be an animal what would you be?
has my huskie lost his voice?
convict cichlids?
How to kill cat fleas in your homes carpets ?
how do you train a puppy to go to the loo outside?
my 5 month old staff keeps coughing up phlem.?
Have you ever seen a man eat a pigeon?
litres to gallons? overcrowding!?
