My dog is bleeding after her spay. Is this normal?

My 2 and half year old Staffie was spayed last Thursday. She started bleeding yesterday from her vagina so I rang the vets and they said this was normal and just to keep an eye on her until monday when she goes in to have her stitches out. She has been bleeding even heavier today but otherwise seems perfectly healthy. She does have a hard lump where the incision was. I'm quite worried but have searched the internet and can't find anything to say that this bleeding is normal. Can anyone help?

Hi my G.S.D has just been spayed i have the same problem. Also i had her mum spayed and she had a short season after being spayed it must be a hormonal thing. she also has the hard lump where incision made. tissue healing/ scar tissue. best of luck.
If the bleeding has gotten heavier, I'd be taking her back to the vet. This shouldn't be happening. Hope she's ok.
It is normal and the lump where the stitches are is because it's getting irratated. She's fine
Bleeding is quite normal but if it gets heavier and heavier Id worry, the lump is just the skin knitting back together.
According to this site, it is listed as 'possible complications'.

Possible complications include bleeding after the surgery << http://www.animalhealthchannel.com/spay/.

I would take her in to be checked..just for peace of mind. (especially as this is Friday, and weekend vists are so expensive)

http://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/ccab/manag. this site as well.
wen my cat got spayed they said she cud still have 1 or 2 more accounts of bleeding time of the month so it will be fine after a few months
As the bleeding is getting heavier I would not wait. Take her in today. Don't wait for the weekend and have to go to an emergency vet.
please dont ask anyone, just take her to the vet,
p.s. hope shes ok.all the best.
A LITTLE bit of oozing around the incision site might be normal for the first day, but vaginal bleeding is NOT - certainly not a week later. The vet should see her immediately at no charge as part of the routine care following an operation. If she has a blood vessel that was not tied off or cauterized properly, she could bleed to death. Good luck - hope she's ok!
