My cat is missing for 4 days now?
My cat is missing for 4 days now, is this normal. He has been neutered. May have been sighted about 5 miles away. Would this be possible? No **** takers please!
Answers:
your best bet is to make up posters and put them as far as 5miles away you never know it could of been him cats can get pretty far ..remember they also go back to old homes aswell..
get the posters up and be prepared for the idiots that phone and say they have got him when they havent of course.. but leave out a certain marking on your cat that only the person holding him will now about.
good luck hope he comes home soon
is it worth contacting the RSPCS or a local cats home?
It's probably long gone. Especially if you live near busy roads.
Sorry, but true.
it is possible it could have been your cat although cats dont normally go beyond there own boundries.
i hope he comes home or you find him safe and sound
POLICE!
it's only been missing for 3 days, i just crapped him out last night and it was good with some soy sauce and noodles.
i think u should tell police if it important for u. or another way is ask your nabor is they see. buy last worst want is wait for it to come back.
the cat maybe going for sight seeing
Let me begin with the possibility he may have been sighted 5 miles away: Why not? But I guess your cat will eventually come back to you. Good luck!
This is possible. Male cats often bugger of for a few days, even a week without so much as a phone call. The other possibl;e answer is that he has been trapped in a shed or garage while a neighbour is away.
Give it a few more days, if no sign then call your local council, they can give details on any bodies they have had to remove in the event of an accident. I would also try your local rescue centres, just in case.
Good Luck
yup. it's normal.. because our neighbor's cat also is missing for how many days. then we saw the cat with a group of cats. she don't want to go home with her owner.. now the cat is stray and pregnant..
sometimes they look for a group of cats and then they go with them.. maybe they miss the company of the other cats..
Check with the police - if he's tagged he may have been reported. This happened to me last year, but she just returned on her own. I made flyers - if you have a picture, and want me to make you some I'll more than gladly do so and email them so you can print them yourself. Contact me if that's the case. Toms are wanderers though.
Normal to worry, since you don't know where your cat is and if he's still alive. We used to have a cat who sometimes disappeared for weeks in the summertime, possibly on a vacation on his own, and always came back, except for the last time he disappeared. Indeed, in the end we were left in the dark as to where he was, since he didn't come back anymore, but then he was already quite old.
So what I'm saying is, it's not that weird for a cat to be away for some time, since they tend to go their own way, even if they're well-trained like ours was. On the other hand, I can't say that he WILL come back, since I don't know for sure that he will. But if he's alright, I believe he will come home. Just might take some time. And you can't help but worry, I know.
I hope you find him!!
check your local roads in case he has been knocked over, check local vets and animal sanctuaries in case he has been handed in, but he is probably at a nieghbours getting fed steak
he could have got shut in garage or shed, there was a cat in my garage when i got my mower out a few weeks ago it had to have been in there a week , it was fine and ran off home.
there's a few possibilities.. my cat went missing for a while and it turned out it had been accidentally locked in a neighbours house.. so it could juts be something simple like that and he'll turn up. or.. unfortunately he may have gone off to die.. my other cat did that.. and also.. he may just have left.. found some where he prefers.. cats can be fickle like that.. so unfortunately.. as is the nature of cats.. you'll only know if he comes back..
4 days may be a long time for you but not to the cat. It is not unusual although if it has been neutered you can discount one reason for its absence. It may be that it was scared by something and will come home when it gets hungry..unless someone eles is feeding it. try printing off photo`s and putting them up in your local area.
don’t panic too soon - cats often go ‘missing’ and then arrive home wondering what all the fuss is about. So, give them a few days at least before you take action
Action Point 1 - First, check all these places:
chimneys / dustbin / water butt / compost bin / sheds / garages
green houses / outside toilets/ vehicles / Gardens / hedgerows
ask neighbours to check their sheds, garages etc.
------------------------------.
Action Point 2 - Make a list of the following details.
the cats name, age and colouring
when and where your cat was last seen
length of hair - long or short
any distinguishing features - white paws, striped tail etc.
male or female?
neutered or entire?
were they wearing a collar, if so, what colour?
is he/she microchipped?
a photograph if possible, (people remember photos better than descriptions)
And give those details to:
local vets (all practices in your area, not just your own vet), for details of vets in your area go to: www.any-uk-vet.co.uk
police station
local schools
your local animal rescue organisations ~ for contact details of rescues in your area go to our: Shelters Pages
lost & found registers and websites ~ details at the bottom of this page
postman, milkman, window cleaner
local newspaper (lost & found sections)
local television
local catteries
local radio (they often broadcast lost & found appeals)
the RSPCA helpline, as they match up lost & found cats across the UK : 0870 5555 999
N.B. the earlier you report your cat missing, the more likely that he/she will be found
------------------------------.
Action Point 3 - Pounding the streets
walk around your local area, paying particular attention to any garages, lock-ups or empty houses
call for your pet by name (you may feel daft at first, but this often works)
shaking a box of his favourite biscuits, or squeezing a favourite squeaky toy may help
stop regularly and listen ~ give your cat a chance to answer your call
stay in one area long enough for your pet to reach you if he is in the vicinity
------------------------------.
Action Point 4 -
Make up a leaflet, including a contact telephone number and with a photo if possible. Don’t put a full description of your cat, that way if someone contacts you saying they have found your cat, you can check those extra details with them to know if they are genuine.
Get plenty of copies made, and distribute as follows:
post them through every door in your immediate area
display at: post offices, supermarkets, pet shops, vets, library, launderette, hairdressers, pubs
and at: newsagents, fish & chip shops, corner shops, garages, doctors, dentists, police station
don't forget to check local shop windows for a 'Cat Found' notice, just in case!
on notice boards in halls such as scouts, brownies, playgroups, youth clubs, social clubs
tie or tape leaflets to telegraph poles, lamp posts, phone boxes, bus shelters and letter boxes
also display one on your own front gate
offer a reward if you can - don't state an amount, just say 'substantial reward'. Even if it is a small amount to you, it might be a large sum to another person or child
------------------------------.
Other Suggestions:
show the photo to dog walkers, lillipop persons, traffic wardens, road sweepers
check Lost & Found section in local newspapers for ‘found’ adverts
contact your local council’s Environmental Health Department. This can be a difficult call to make, but they will be able to tell you if a cat matching your description has been found killed on the road.
Good luck ! hope you find him soon
I have had many cats and they have all strayed often for weeks ,once we had a cat that strayed for about 4months I thought she was dead and then running down the garden was my cat
So after 4days don't even start to worry!
:)Cats are like that
don't even start to worry for a few weeks!
Check any sheds/buildings round your area, he could be trapped somewhere locked in? That happened to my mums cat once, he went mising for ages and turned up out the blue, turns out he must of been trapped in someones shed as he was covered in dust and dirt
if he is well loved and not to old he will be home in time. mine would run all over town and get his a___ kicked and turn up to go to the vet died old and gray at the end of my bed have faith
I had a cat about 20 years ago (also neutered) that went missing one day. After a week, my friends and family all said he was long gone. We lived on a very busy road, too. I refused to give up hope. I told everyone I'd believe he was gone as soon as someone produced his body. Anyway, 6 weeks later, I was sitting on the porch and who came strolling up the driveway? Don't know where he was. Maybe someone took him in and he finally managed to get out and come home. Who knows.
The point is this - don't give up on your cat. Make posters, make phone calls. Do whatever you gotta do. I won't lie, the law of averages is not in your favor on this. But then, it wasn't in my favor either. Good luck. Hope you find him.
If no one has picked him up and kept him as a pet then there is a big possibility that he´d return. Tracking his way home by sniffing, by smell he will find his way back.."they say"! Mine was not the case. We went for a week´s vacation to a place where my female unspayed cat was not familiar with so when a tom cat came up our terrace, she probably went after him and never came back. As we were vacationing for only a week we couldn´t ask the help of any police or anyone. I just hope your cat comes back..there´s a big chance I guess. But try to post photos of him around your vicinity with your contact no.
All of my kittys are indoor only. They have taken off a couple of times and always returned. Usually when they return, they appreciate their home more and don't run away again. Hope your kitty comes home too! Good Luck! :)
It would be possible if someone nabbed and dropped him off that far away. It's more likely that he's within a 2 block radius of your house hiding.
I have a female who was'nt spayed but very rarely would go outside. When she was about 5 we bought this house, she came in heat and we bought a german shepherd pup.In that order.
She was having no part of the pup so as soon as heat was done she went out and disappeared. We did'nt see her for 72 days. She came back finally covered with fleas and all but starved. And went into heat again the day after her return. Not a problem with her since. So don't give up hope.
Leave food and water out for him if you can. He's probably coming back at night and no one hears him.
Have you tried putting pictures on the lampposts near you. It is possible he is stuck in someones shed. Or someone else has taken him in. Good Luck
try the local chinese he is probably number 9 on the menu
This Can Be Completely Normal. I Knew Of A Cat That Went Missing For Two Weeks Once And Still Turned Up. If You Are Worried Put Out Posters Or Contact An Animal Organisation.

How old is your cat? Older cats, when theyre ready to die, will "run away" to a private/secluded area.
If your cat isnt old.have you checked all of the closets and stuff in your house? I thought my cat had run away for a week.almost gave up hope on her.until I opened a closet door and there she was.darn cat never made a sound the whole time.didnt go to the bathroom anywhere either!
Good luck tho!
jus tto be safe contact all local vets and the rspca if a cat has been found or injured in the area they will know also post leaflets and flyers just in case he is locked in a garage or shed or if someone else has taken him in thnking that he is a stray and if you do get him back get him microchipped if you havent already then vets etc can reunite alot easier if they come into the practice
