Any cases of Dog Act 1871 being applied to tresspassers on private property?

Answers:
Maybe, It is a dangerous dog act, and was updated in 1989
not that I know of
Not quite sure what your reference is.
If you are talking about stray dogs trespassing on pasture/rangeland and endangering livestock,, yes it is applied on a regular bases in the Western US
Need to remember that the dog act of 1871 was a very comprehensive piece of legislation, and covered many things. It has also been amended so many times in the last 130 years it would be helpful if you could site exactly what provision you are referring to.
If you are talking about shooting the dog if it trespasses i don't think you can do that and you also have to remember the owners can take you to court and sue plus it is illegal to have a firearm if you have not got all the necessary documents to support it. I'd be careful and talk to the citizens advice bureau. If this is not what you are talking about pls igore me.
