Why is my kitty pooping in the tub?
My female kitty will be a year old in November. She has been spayed, and also has a habit of peeing on anything fabric. In the past two weeks, she has started to do her poops in the the bath, right at the plughole! Her litter tray is changed and cleaned regularly and I have not bought a differerent brand of litter for ages. When she was younger and peeing on fabrics I tried different types of litter, but now Ive just gone back to Catsan!

well i use a wood pellet and my cats love it and it half the price of cat san i clean my cats try everyday now but in the begining i did`nt and my cat peed in the tub to what to do is to show her its wrong lightly spank her tell her she is bad and show here the litter box also try restrict the cats freedom in the house whn your out like shut the bathroom door

mr think.is really gross. I cant tell you whats wrong with your cat but why dont you try putting the liter box on top of the bath tub plug for a few weeks. After a few weeks take the box out and put it somewhere in the bathroom, if your kitty goes to the liter box then if should be fine. If not then..iono. Youre kitty might just be crazy.

They do it because the cleaning products people use in the bathroom contain amonia, and so does cat pee, the best way to stop it is to make sure the bathroom door is closed and get some amonia drops from the pet shop and drip a few in the litter.
just changing the litter regularly may not be enough. with my mom's cats she has to change the litter daily and disinfect the box itself daily. she has very clean cats. if she does do it daily then they refuse to use the litter box
I have 3 cats myself and one was in a strange habit like that - except with her it was corners.
Anyways the problem might be that she needs a bigger litter box. It might sound silly but some cats need to have some room - unless its already a big one. If the litter box has a lid that could be the problem - its so cramped in there sometimes they even end up standing on their poop.
If its in a room you might want to put her food in there and lock her in so she has no option but to use her litter box.
This one is a tricky one but the cat can learn.
Whenever I had a kitten/cat and they were pooping around I'd lock them in the laundry room (since there litter and food was there) and leave them there for 1 day or 2 - obviously you must show them where everything is (put them in the litter box and say "use it here.."and so on) and every so often check on them and show them again - its kinda like you have a kid of your own but this is how they learn.
Once the day(s) are over just open the door and they will know where to come back to eat /use the potty.
Hope it works - it did for me.

sounds like she needs therapy.. i had a kitty once that used to poop on the bathmat..so shes doing it in the right place..
get her to the vets she could be telling you that something is wrong with her
She may be sick and unable to tell you in any other way. My male cat came inside and squated down right in front of me.it turns out his urethra was blocked and he almost died. You need to take the kitty to the vet.
The problem could be the brand of litter (like you mentioned,) the location of the litter box, or simply a preference for the surface texture of the bathtub.
Whatever the problem, the cat has established that he/she prefers the tub over the litter box. He/she now associates the tub with doing the "duty." You need to restablish that the litter-box is the proper place for her/his business and break the association with the tub.
To do this, I would recommend moving the litter-box someplace else (make sure the cat knows where!) You can gradually move it back as he/she uses it. If they stop using it again, once it moves back to the original location, then you know they don't like the location. Second, you need to restrict access to the bathroom. Since the cat already associates the bathroom with it's "business" it is your job to ensure that isn't an option anymore. Keep the bathroom door closed. Once the cat is using the litter again, and the litter is where you want it, you can open the door again. Make sure to thoroughly clean the tub with bleach. You may also want to use some of that pet-stain enzyme-eating spray they sell at pet stores to cover up pet accidents. Your aim is to make sure the cat doesn't smell evidence of their previous exploits and start reminiscing of the past.

A good remedy I have found to keep cats from going places they shouldn't (like bathtubs,cribs,counters)is line up empty tin cans(like coke cans) in the area-when the cat jumps into the area they are startled and shaken by the noise and lack of balance so they eventually learn to stay away from the area,but if your cat doesn't like her litter or has behavioral problems she WILL find a new place to go poop-.Hope this helps!
She is needing the toilet and doesn't want to mess your floor so uses the bath as its easily cleaned. My tam used to do that and he gradually stopped over time as i cleaned his tray on a daily basis and he accepted that. I do believe that it is because your litter tray is not getting cleaned more often, cats don't like dirty places to do their toilet.
My black Persian used to do that; I resolved the situation by filling the tub with about 2 inches of water and getting the clear plastic training pan for her to use on top of the toilet. she learned to use the toilet and only peed in the tub drain! I didn't care much for that but. what the heck, I always shower anyway so it was not deal for me to run some water every now and then. Hey, call the pet shop and ask for the clear plastic pan for training cats to use the toilet! It works, no more poop scooping, no more changing of litter, no more buying littler and no more stinkeroohs (just flush the toilet whenever).
Try giving her a bath in the bath. I guarantee she wont go near the thing after that.
Better than pooping on the carpet, at least you can bleach out the bath
if you sure it is the cat, close the door. Spray something potent around the plug hole, maybe you have mice and she seeing them off?
pets learn to adapt to our behaviour, in essence adopting us as part of their pride. They make note of where you go for you pooping and choose the same area. (not suggesting you use the litter tray mind you)
It's really frustrating when a cat soils. Did she ever use the litter tray properly? I had a cat that would always wee behind the sofa and in corners. We got her from a pet shop - and without realising it - discovered she'd been taken away from her mother too early and hadn't been taught how to use the litter tray properly. If she is consistently going to the same place, you could try placing her food bowl there. Cats are not going to soil where they're fed.
