Could any 1 tell me is it normal to get small snails in my fish tank?

how do i get rid of them they always come back

Answers:
l was over run by these horrid little snails! If you buy anti snail treatment it DOESN'T kil them it just knocks them out, you then have to mess about picking all the tiny snails out!!
For around £4 the same as the cost of the treatment you may as well buy a clown loach- pick one which is a nice bright orange as they do vary in colour! This will clean up your tank and Keep them at bay without all the maintenance of having to mess around picking them out!
Be careful of putting a large gold fish in your tank if you have any small fish i.e. Neon's as they will also eat them, and will grow a lot quicker in a tropical tank!!
I have not heard of this but I am sure that if you carefully remove the fish into a safe container.. then remove the sand or whatever you have there.. take it out and heat it and then put it back into the fish tank(after it has cooled of course).. that should have gotten rid of any snail larvae
yes it is normal to get snails in your tank i bet you have recently purchased new fish from a "reputable" dealer and they were in the water happens all the time if it is a tropical tank buy a clown loach that will sort the problem but it will take a while for the clown loach to grow
totally normal, happens all the time. No worries! But i do suggest that you should clean your tank!
Yes, you can buy a treatment from a pet shop, i was told that a lot of the time they are brought into your tank from other tanks ie buying new fish and i do think its true as i've never replaced fish in a year and i haven't had any.
DONT GET RID OF THEM THEY HELP TO KEEP THE TANK CLEAN & HEALTHY
You usually get snails in your tank when introducing live plants to your setup. They are quite troublesome to get rid of but cause no real harm - eating your plants is probably the worst they will do. Easiest and quickest way to get rid of them is by using a potion from your local petstore or as another answer states - buy a few clown loaches as these eat the snails.
They may have stowed away on water plants that you bought. I don't think they do any harm - in fact some people put them in on purpose to help keep the tank clear of algae. If you want to get rid of them, I think you'd have to clean out the whole tank, washing everything very carefully before putting it back.
Yes this is normal i cant remember what they r called but if u have bought a plant of some sort frm your pet shop thats how they get transported.
They wont do your tank or fish any harm they just eat the algy and help keep your tank clean.
yes it is normal, tend to come in with new plants.
Yes but they arent good for yout tank. They dont stop breeding and then end up taking over your tank. I can suggest getting a hearty goldfish. A nice big one. It will eat your snails and you will see a big difference in about just a few hours. Just as long as you dont have any aggressive fish in your tank such as Ciclids or needlefish. But if your tank is tropical then you will be just fine. This is actually what we do at the Pet Smart I work at. Works great!!
yes it is normal u can get snails and sucker fish try a pet shop
The small snails are called water snails and it is perfectly normal for them to be in there. If they are very small your fish may try and eat them but there is nothing wrong with them being there.
they usually come in via the water plants..like stuck to the bottom of them and you don't know that they're there.
Yes, you get them from the live plants you buy, and they multiply x100's, and will eventually kill your plants, and poison the water quickly when they die, there are some snail killer products you can buy, but the products can harm certain types of fish, there are also certain types of Loaches that will eat snails.
yes it is normal if you use live plant you have to wash them properly to get rid of the snails they hide in the roots of live plants we had quite a lot once and the only way we could get rid of them was to keep taking them out every time we saw one then eventually had to strip the tank completely to get rid because they breed
yes they come off live plants but you can gat snail repelent that kills them off at any pet shop
Yes it's normal, leave them in there they will help to clean your tank
They come in with live plants.
Yep they are normal but sorry dude they are there to stay, we have tried everything to remove the ones in our tank (that came unwanted in some plants). There is a chemical on sale that kills them but is not good for your fish and you can not really empty a tropical tank to give it a good clean, the only thing you can really do is remove all visible snails, daily and hope for the best.
Before you put any plants in your tank wash them with plenty of water or rinse them in a bucket with the snail killer chemical stuff then rinse well after with plain water. this should stop any more coming, there are also some fish who will eat small snails, Ask in ur pet shop as they will be able to advise you depending on what size tank you have and also what fish you already have.
Yes it is normal for snails to appear sometimes they are transported into your tank via the plants you put in there, always make sure you throughly wash all new plants before putting them in your tank. I have a tropical tank and sometimes afew appear, we have two clown loaches who like to eat snails to help clear them, Be careful of some treatments as they can be a little too harsh for some fish and can harm them, as this has happened to me.
Yes these are fresh water snails. The eggs are very very small and attach themselves to pond weed that you buy from the pet shop,etc...and then to your home.
It is common, so buy some stuff from an aquarium shop to get rid of them, don't leave them in like some people have said as if I remember they multiply in numbers very quickly, I can't remember what it is called but basically snails don't mate, they just have more and more and more and so on.

Get my drift.

Eradicate them now, before they take over your tank.
