If you buy a pet from an animal shelter is it free?
I KNOW IT IS A KINDA DUMB Q' BUT I WANNA KNOW
Answers:
I wouldn't say the pet was "free", because there are costs involved. On the other hand, I wouldn't say the dog was "sold" because the shelter is not collecting the fee to make a profit - just to cover the expenses of the pet.
If you buy anything then it is not free! Buying involves payment.
Not really a dumb question. No dog is free. They all require food, medical attention, and time. It's the same as becoming a mother or father. You take on that life and have to support and LOVE it. But I think you meant do you pay the shelter. And yes, different shelter have different adoption fees to offset the cost of housing and rehabilitating the dog. It's around $80 I believe.
No, most shelters charge a small fee for the pets.
i got a dog from a rescue centre and paid £85, as they had got all the inoculations done and got it registered with the vet
I don't think it is free. I think your only paying for their shots though. Here, if I remember correctly, they said it was about 50 - 60 dollars to "adopt" a pet. I live in Houston.
No how can you buy something if it's free?
No - depends on the shelter, but in UK a lot of them ask for a donation (up to £95!) or that you pay the vet's bills..
You pay for the vetting that has been done to the pet.
Well, free in like you sign a paper and they give it to you? No. You pay for the treatment of the animal at a very reduced rate. Like to get it fixed or if it had some surgery. I think getting animals from shelters is awesome! Good luck to you! I hope you find a wonderful friend!
No, it's not free. It's normally called a donation or an adoption fee, but that's how the shelters pay for all the upkeep and the animals they take care of. They normally run non-profit, so they need donations and adoption fees to stay in business.
Depending on where you live adoption fees can run $40- $100 depending on the animal. AND it will be spayed or nuetered before you are allowed to take it home.
no, they come with a bunch of stuff (most of the time) like deworming shots, being fixed, and thats kinda dtuff. i had to pay $50.00 for a cat that came with all her shots.
there is an adoption fee, but it's totally worth it! the dog usually comes with up to date shots and is usually spayed or neutered.
Even if there was no official charge, the shelters are charities so you should give a donation - after all, it's cost them money to look after the dog before you adopted it.
no. in my town it $45. the money goes to the shelter though.
no you will need to pay
No,,but they are reasonably priced,,most have there shots & includes the license. Please adopt,,the dog will know that you saved its life & will be forever grateful. If you have any questions about dogs,,feel free to e-mail me.
need more details on that question..
but if your buying it is not free.. IT is right there in your title..
but if you mean spay and neuter then yes it is included in the cost well mine were any way..
to buy = to pay
if you buy it its not free
No, it's not a dumb question, most shelters do have a fee. That's how the get a lot of there money to support there shelter. Some shelters offer first set of vaccination and sterilization.
Hope this helped!
no, theres still a small payment, cheaper than a petstore though.
in battersea dogs home you pay roughly 45+ for a dog and 35+ for a cat. not sure about other animals
hope this helps
IF it is a good shelter, there is a charge. They are fixed, vaccinated, tested, wormed. and vet checked...or they should be! All that at a vet would cost a LOT, and shleters only get a portion of that back from the adoption. Also, an adoption fee discourages "crappy" adoptors!!
No. God you are only being nice and going to a dogs home to get an unwanted animal and they charge you for the privilege. They say it is a donation but "It will be blah blah blah" amount. When I got my first dog 20 years ago that was £20 and when I get the second it was 60 euros. They charge you as they have to cover the costs of injections and vets visits. I think. It differs though
no it isn't there is always a fee mostly because they probley are already fixed and have their shots
No, the animal is not free and there is a MULTITUDE of costs associated with keeping a dog of any size happy & healthy.
You will be responsible for spay/neutering the animal (sometimes included in the cost of the dog from the shelter), vaccinations, licensing, pet meds, food, crate, toys.
Please be sure you're able to financially care for an animal before adopting.
I'm really glad you're considering adopting instead of buying. So many animals need a good home!
No you still pay
no because you have to buy it
no you usually have to make a donation of some kind if they dont have an official price
No, they usually charge fees to cover boarding and food, and you have to pay for anything they did to it, like neutering and shots. You need to budget hundreds a year in vet bills for a dog.
Yes but they usually ask for a small donation to help fund their cause
No you pay a portion of what you would pay if you bought it from a breeder
