Why are dogs noses always cold?

Answers:
Actually, dogs' noses arent ALWAYS cold. They are usually cold after the dog licks its nose and the air begins evaporating the moisture off the nose. Many dogs lick their noses quite frequently thus making it seem like they are always wet and cold.

Also you can't always tell if your dog is sick by how moist or dry the nose is. Sometimes when a dog's nose is dry it just means that the dog was sleeping or resting and hasn't licked it in a while. Conversely, the nose could be wet because of excess mucous or drinking water, which doesn't necessarily mean the dog is healthy.
and wet
because it's wet from drinking water
becuase it is like a censor. when humans doent feel well we check our foreheads heat to see if we have a fever, well with dogs you know they are sick if their noses are not wet and cold!
I always thought that meant they are healthy. If it gets warm and dry then they are sick.
Because their noses are wet and in the open air, the water evaporates from their noses drawing heat with it. This makes the nose cooler.

MoP
well if its ever hot that means there ill
Because anything that is wet or contains fluids when the air hits the moisture, it gets cold. Especially with all the breathing a dog does.

I would imagine (although I m not sure) that scent must be carried to the nerve endings in some sort of catalyst in order for them to register as scent. SO the liquid or fluid is necessary and it also helps in that an animal can't very well tell you they have a stuffy nose so when the secretions stop flowing, the dog stops smelling and the nose dries and gets warm?

Sounds good? Maybe a vet would know for sure?
It's a sign of good health in dog.
A warm nose generally means unwell.
if it were dry and warm your dog would be off colour(ill) as its cold and wet your dog is in good health.
becouse they are healthly, everything is ok..that´s all !
have a nice weekend !
