Does anyone know any facts on animal experiments?
Answers:
I agree with animal testing for drugs, as we must find a cure for diseases such as cancer, Parkinson's, MS etc.
What I strongly object to is animals that are used for make up and testing shampoo etc. They have a row of pure white, red eyed rabbits, lined up in boxes so their heads are sticking out of a hole in the box, they then put drops of chemicals i.e shampoo, foundation, perfume etc in their eyes and watch for the reaction. If you get shampoo in your eyes is still hurt like hell so what have they proved?
I'd like to line all those so called scientists up and drop stuff in their eyes see how they like it.
Revlon is one of the worst offenders. Never buy Revlon products.
It's is quite likely that it is responsible you or someone in your immediate family still being alive now.
we have to test them on something. Most labs test on small animals such as mice, hamsters and rats. The animals are specifically bred for this purpose. They help save lives.
I think asswipe should be experimented on to find out why he has no brain. At least the animal experiments help to save lives.
ohhh a hard question, i'm not sure what you mean about facts - like number of animals used etc. I'm sure there are lots of related questions on here already.
on principal i'm against it with monkies and the like but did you see on the news recently they managed to cure some blind rats. I'm sure that could have some benefit for lots of people in the future.
When it's trying to compare human diseases and brain problems like alzheimers with monkies, i'm not sure that's as valuable, as they're not prone to the same things.
oh and for non medical testing like makeup - that's just wrong, i mean how many rabbits do you see buying shampoo ? Scientists should test it on themselves, that way they'd be more likely to get it right first time :¬)
FACT: It is totally legal to accept "FREE TO GOOD HOME" kittens and puppies and sell them to reseach labs
FACT: Proctor and & Gamble the notorios company known for doing animal experiments now owns Eukanuba and Iams (also they lowered the quality of both but particularly Iams when they bought it out)
FACT: Animal testing does not guarantee a product is safe for humans
FACT: Many animals used in animal testing have to be euthanized as a result of either the testing or the poor housing conditions
FACT: Some companies say "this product has not been tested on animals" but fail to tell you that all the ingredients were tested
They're done under the guise of it may save peoples' lives. In reality a lot of animal testing is inaccurate and unncessary.
It's been shown that some drugs pass animal testing without a problem, only to cause illness and death in humans. Look at all the Rx drugs that have been recalled in the last few years.
They also use animals for things they don't need tested. Every year dozens of new shampoo brands hit the market, each brand with a half dozen kinds or scents. Do we really need to torture animals & cause rabbits blindness and death just so we can have yet another kind of shampoo?
