it would probebly depend on what type of dog it is like, i recomend willy, fred, single sylable words. I wouldn't want to be calling out a super long name at the park, or try baby name books for names, i doubt youll find a stupid dog name in that book.

a really nice simple name i think RED on first thought you think no but it does grow on you.
plus when he gets older you can call him OLD RED.
fab name for a dog. plus it's one sylable word.
Since he is a red gold, why not call him that? In Spanish, the finest gold (which has a slight reddish cast to it) is called "oro fino." It would make a great name for a dog.
A good friend had a golden retriever nad named him after one of his favortite beers.

"Molson" as in Molson Golden.
Maybe you could name him Currant?
I had a red retriever named Maroon when I was younger. Happy for you to use either name. Hope this helps you.

We had a dog at our sanctuary which was a red retriever. In the summer because of the sun he used to get gold highlights in his fur so we decided to call him Chewbacca (Chewie for short) after the character in Star Wars
