Answers:
holy crap get out of the house NOW!!
I think its just a common house spider. A big one right enough
I would not only look them up on the internet but would look up "Pest control" in Yellow Pages. These spiders don't look very friendly to me. Whatever you do, don't come close and don't touch them with bare hands.. You can use Google to search for dangerous spider species.. but I would get professional help right away
Yikes that's big!

But harmless. UK spiders are. Scoop it and put it outside.
i've seen bigger SQUISH IT!! spiders are creepy i had 1 on my face squished while it was still on my face ewwww..sorry bout the tmi !!
i think you are over reacting we live with spiders in our house and they are bigger house spiders that that one....don't worry they sometimes come in from outdoors because of the weather so garden spiders are expected too...
Could you post a larger picture? That one is too small and blurry to tell much.
If u have spiders in your house that means there is no damp as long as there are spiders!! because spiders run away from water i wouldnt worry iv seen some huge spiders in my home 2
Ok - I have not looked at the pictures myself (I have a bit of a phobia!), but you should show them to someone,or email, who is an expert at this type of stuff. (a bit vague, I know)
Ask a friend or a neighbour who is good at these things to come and help you kill the spiders. Just hit it with a long broom/mop or stick!
If you want information about poisonous spiders, try typing "poisonous spiders" in the Google search engine.

All the best!
It was a little hard to see the picture to give a clear answer. I found a site that says that the UK has over 600 different spiders.Try this site for tons of pics and descriptions. Oh and by the way it says that they are all harmless to man.
So, go back to sleep and don't worry!!
I wouldn't necessarily worry - we get quite a few here in Oz, and it's often the big ones that you don't have to worry about. If you can't capture one (in a jar), get onto an entomologist (from a local uni) and get them to come out for a visit. You might even send them a photo.
oh my goch i'm sorry call an exterminator OR MOVE, because i really can't handle spiders the size of the cursor on the computer that well, i'm so scared. now i'm creeped out.
jees buddy ur photos suck - i cant even tell its a spider other than that u mentioned that, try looking up on a spider site in uk
Try to catch the spider in a jar. Is there any way you can stay at a family members House hotel for the night then take the captured spider to your doct, or emergency animal center and ask them to examine the spider for you. I would not sleep there. Its too risky.
If you want protection until help comes, hook up netting above the beds, when you sleep draw the netting down all around you so they don't come in to where you're sleeping. This is the sort of thing you can do before you pest control is able to make it to your home.
LMHO that is massive !!
It does however look like a common house spider.I would probably run a mile but get someone to kill it for you..I don't think for one minute that its poisonous.
Just hope we don't get any like that as I live in a big old house and it's my first winter here !! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ughhhhhhhhhhhhh thats a creepy spider! call an exterminator and get some spider spray!
I'm been trying to tell you all. It's the end of the world.
The picture is quite small, but to me, it looks like one of those olf spiders. They are completely harmless. They just don't look very nice eh! I also get them in my house, I hate them, I try to to show my fear to my children though. I hoover them up and leave to hoover running for a bit to make sure they can't climb out! (lol I am scared!)

I hope this helps you, but if you are still worried you can call an expert in (inexpensive from you council) and get them to look.

Anyway, I hope you are ok.

Best wishes
A fellow spider phobe
ya they are big tho i think they are just house spiders i have had the same size and bigger in my house so if you find out how to get rid of them or keep them away let me no cause i am so scared of spiders!! i hate them!! i got one the same size as your pic in my hair once and ever since i have had to shake all of my clothes b4 i wear them, check my bed shake my sheets b4 going 2 sleep at night and i keep having to get people 2 check my hair!good luck!
It looks like a large female wolf spider. It's a harmless spider. If you approach it, it will run away. If you don't like it in your house catch it with a jar and a magazine and put it outside. If you are ok with it, leave it where it is and it will get rid of flies, mosquitos and moths for you.
its just a big spider dont worry.
It looks like a common house spider, they do get bigger than that so just trap them under a large plastic jug, slide a piece of A4 card underneath, then slide something more sturdy under the card. Turn the whole thing upside down and put it over the fence into your neighbours garden when they're not looking.
Works for me every time!

If you're in the U.K. its a common house spider and not poisonous.
spiders.ew.
Do you live near a river or a green grocers?
We used to and once had one of these buggers appear in our flat. The joke was "it was so big we couldn't get the potty over it".. Anyway I managed to catch the wee bugger and throw it out of a 2nd floor window only to hear a blood freezing scream from below as it landed on some poor womans head. I'm not kidding this thing was huge. You could hear it moving up the wall. I wouldn't worry about it being poisonous.
iv got spiders that size probably bigger in my shed don't pick them up as house spiders do bite and give you the same symptoms as flu just whoop it with a news paper and don't worry to much hope this helps
looks huge i would move! do u get lots of bananas? as weird spiders are sometimes found in them if u can catch one or get someone else to and take it to your local reptile shop or zoo they will tell u what it is and maybe how to get rid of them if they not dangerous buy a cat as they love eating spiders but really i would move looks way scary
