My Dog has just started peeing and pooing on the carpet, how do I stop her?
We have had the dog for a year and despite her having 24hr access to the garden she has over the last few weeks started choosing to go in the house instead. She never used to do this. What can I doo to stop it and what may have caused it. She is walked daily.

We had a dog that was really good and would never dream of doing the toilet inside - until we got another pet, the attention she got was just the same, but she didn't think so and id the loo inside to get a reaction. Dogs are very much like toddlers in that way.
Fenlandfowl is also right that it could be fear, your dog may be able to smell of sense something in your garden that you can't. Do you live near fields, it could be a badger going through your garden and leaving a scent.
Either way spend time with your dog and make a point of taking it out for a walk to relieve itself, praise when she does go outside and scold when she does it indoors.

thats odd, if its the same patch of carpet there may be some strange smell there, try shampooing and a spray
think f anything that may be causing her anxiety. Change in your working patterns, building noises, anything that may stress her out. if there is nothing new then it sounds like it may be a medcal problem, it is rare for a house trained dog to start going indoors without either psychological or medical reasons
Walk her immediatly after feeding, gently though no running. This when there is most pressure on the bowels and she is likely to go.
Praise her lots and lots when she goes outside, food treat. Do nothing, dont even talk as you clean anything up indoors. Use the positive to win her.
The fact that she always has garden might mean she considers the whole area as her patch, in and outdoors is irrelevant to her. She may have just decide that that is her poo corner, out of the way of her garden, back to praise and treats thing.

My dog used to do this if it rains or if it is cold. She's got better over time and we no longer have accidents unless she's left on her own for long.
I have a 1 year old dog and we had the same problem a week ago, since the fireworks started for bonfire night my dog wouldnt go outside unless she was taken on a walk, therefore she was weeing and pooing at the back door, shes ok now and will go outside no problem but this lasted two weeks. your dog could have the same problem.
The only other reason i can think off if she is leaving a scent in the house this will make her want to wee where the scent is try a foam spray which has nozzels in the carpet this gets right into the carpet to kill germs and odours (from pet stores).
When she does go outside for the toilet praise the dog and she'll soon remember this is where i should go toilet.

Do you have someone that the dog like to be with.. My dog pees or poos. If there is someone that the dog love to be with and there not there.
You must teach her nicely. If you are teaching a pet you must reward them by giving them foods etc. or by praising them.
Do you think possibly that it maybe cold or wet outside? Our mastiff is short haired and hates the cold.
She also might be having a problem holding her bladder, consult a vet about this..
Something is different a dog doesn't just start doing things for the heck of it...

By all means DO NOT rub his/her nose in it. Do not scold him/her after the fact. Dogs have almost no short term memory so if you do not catch them in the act let it go.
Definitely take a trip to the vet. Change in bathroom habits can be simptoms of many medical issues.
Try everything you can to get all of the scent out of the carpt as soon as the offense has happened (vinager is helpful for odors, hydrogen peroxide will help with stains).
Then you must not leave him/her unattended until you have received sucess in this area. I would recomend crate training. Wheneve you cannot watch you dog put him/her into a crate. It should be big enough for your dog to lay in and turn around comfortably but not big enough to pick a corner to pee in.
When you let you dog out go straight outside, go with him/her. If you dog does his/her business then use alot of praise and a reward. If you are going to be gone for a very long day get a trusted neighbor to let your dog out mid day.
Only let your dog out when you are able to watch and try to catch him/her in the act. Stop him/her and take them directly outside. Praise and reward.
The two main goals are to
1. not allow the wrong behavior to occur, ever!
2. new proper behavior to be learned.
Have your Dog checked oy by a Vet. It could be something more serious such as a issue with the Kidneys or bladder. Most Dogs don't just start having problems sudenly unless its a medical issue. If it's in the same spot every time, try mixing a solution of 1/2 white vinegar to 1/2 water in a spray bottle and going over the area. It will neutralize any previous smells.
You might want to crate her when you leave and when home leash her to you so you can always have an eye on her. My dog started to revert back to using the carpet at 6 months. A week and a half of being leashed to me or crated she missed her freedom and quit. Just some suggestions to try.
The in laws westie started doing this about a year ago, the vet put it down to territory marking as a bigger dog had moved in to the house opposite. They got the dogs to meet and become friends.
