What do geckos eat?

we found a TINY gecko indoors in our house(in cyprus)and we are keeping it in an ice-cream tub..we dont really know what to feed him-does anyone know what he will eat?

Answers:
mealworms, but you should really take him to a rescue centre as they will know how to care for him better, or if they live outdoors in cyprus then release him.
crickets or grasshoppers
usually gecko's eat bugs. If it was in your house, let it go. it is there to eat the bugs! (crickets, mealworms)
Insects
small insects
isn't there a better way to save on car insurance than keeping your own gecko? I'm sorry I had to say that. truthfully I don't know, someone else might be able to help you but I'm sure if you do a web search you can find out as well.

good luck!
Insects.
Little bugs.
Try some meal worms .
you can feed it meal worms or crickets. just make sure that they are small enough or the gecko won't eat it. they have to be able to fit in it's mouth and don't put too many in with it a time or they may start biting the gecko, then it won't eat anything. trust me i used to work with gecko's and have seen them attacked by crickets before. hope this helps
Put him back outside where he belongs.
insects
Gecko's eat crickets and grasshoppers. My friend has one and he told me once that they only eat them if they are still alive.
F O O d
i have an albino gecko and he eats crickets
If its really small then flys
If big enough small crickets
There are also meal worms
Make shure if your going to go outside and find the food that there has not been any poison like tick and flea killer ect. spread this will make the insects toxic to your little lizard
You also need a terrarium heat rock and lamp to keep him comfortable note with out a hot rock to lay on after eating your gecko will not be able to digest its food and will die
There a lot of work Good Luck Kc
Let him go he'll fend for himself-hope he's still in Cyprus as it's illegal to bring live things back, but he would eat ants, mosquitoes etc
My sister has two leopard geckos, they mainly eat crickets, locusts and wax worms, also keep it hot, but not too hot and give it plenty of water to drink! although you should probably let it go back to the wild and it will find its own food, but if you insist on keeping it, then try these and you cant go too wrong, but remember you cant bring it to England with out special papers, or they will take it off you!
you shouldnt keep a wild gecko anyway, it's not likely to last long due to the shock of being caught, if you really must keep it there are heaps of sites to get info about keeping geckos healthy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/gecko. look around and get as much info as you can.
humans
small crickets, meal worms, wax worms. you can get all this at any pet store. you might want to bring the gecko to the pet store with you so the guy can tell you what kind he is and he can be more specific about everything. please choose me as best answer, i am right and i have a lot of pets.
crickets, and occasional mealworms. Make sure there is plenty of fresh water
crickets, wax worms don`t keep in tub long `best let it go ! jayne.
crickets, mealworms, flies. Also just let him go in the house, I have a tokay loose in my apt. will collect him when I move out and let him go in my new pad. He helps out with the pissants also. also I think its cool when he just pops up on the wall for a second then disappears chasing some some unseen insect. Its a trip when I catch him running across the ceiling. Leave wild ones in wild though. Being thrown in captivity usually stresses them to the point of death. You can buy healthy captive bred geckos at pet store for as low as 10 bucks. Oh yeah he drives the cat crazy because the cat doesnt know how to catch him thats a ton of laughs in itself.
insects

let him go he will hopefully keep your house free of them
The idiot thats keeping it in an ice cream tub if there is any justice in this world.
let the damn gecko go!!
i don't , but I would try meal worms , from a local aquarium . from the garden , Perhaps aphids .
if you put it back it will live . if you are not familiar with reptile husbandry . It will certainly die .
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Release it back to the wild, it won't survive long in an ice cream tub. Depending what species of gecko it is, it will have different requirements. All lizards are cold blooded and need a heat source to enable them to digest food, some bask on warm rocks on an evening others bask out in the sun during the day. Some lizards also require UV light to enable them to absorb calcium, if the lizard you have found requires UV, kept in an Ice cream tub it will soon develop MBD (metabolic bone disease) which will result in disfigurement, pain and eventually death. Most geckos and other lizards will live in captivity on crickets and locusts, meal worms and wax worms can be used as a treat but are very fatty, insects that are to be used as food should be dusted with a calcium and vitamin powder too to increase their nutritional value. Unless you know exactly what kind of lizard it is, you will be unable to meet its specific requirements, let it go back in the wild where it can look after itself :o)

Meal worms crickets, or locust but it's a bit cruel keeping it in such a small space from what it's used to, can't you find anything bigger to put it in and let it go back to were it belongs
