Well, you gave no info. Is the dog male? Neuter him. If it's not an intact male the just reinforce the potty training. Remember any dog is only as good as the training it received. Since you have an older dog go with the 3 to 4 month rule. The first thing to remember about house training a puppy is there ability to hold themselves is limited. a rule of thumb is they can hold "it" usually 1 hour for each month of age. 2 months old = 2 hours, 3 months old = 3 hours, etc. when your puppy wakes up (morning, nap, whatever) the pup has to go, right then! take the pup out. when the pup eats or drinks, it has to go, take the pup out. after exercise (play), take the pup out. when the pup does it's thing outside praise it. a lot. tell the pup how good, how smart it is. you have to pay attention to the pups "looking for it's spot" behavior. when you see that behavior indoors, whisk the pup out. if you catch the pup in the act, simply tell it "NO!" and whisk it outside. if you find a puddle or pile after the fact, clean it up with an enzyme cleaner (pet food store) get a newspaper and hit.. yourself in the head and say "i should have been paying more attention" daytime training they get pretty fast. night time training is easier if you crate train the pup. also remember the one hour/one month rule. you will have to get up through the night to take the pup out. good luck

I read that rubbing their noses in it. Can't say i've tried, but if peed somewhere I shouldn't have and someone done that to me, I probably wouldn't do it again!
Let him out as soon as he whines to go out. If he doesn't whine, he's marking his territory. Bad dog. Rub his nose in it, scold it and give it a sharp smack on the nose. He'll soon stop once he learns he's doing WRONG.
when it looks like it is about to pee, shove newspaper underneath or place dog on top of it, he will learn to associate the paper with peeing and when they start to go on the paper gradually move it towards the back door until it is outside. OR if it is a smallish dog that is easy to pick up, when it goes to squat or **** its leg pick it up and take it outside then stay outside with it until they do wee then praise it.. worked for my 4 dogs.
Get him into the way after he has his tea you immediately go out for walkies - have the lead on hand and get cracking as soon as - and make quite a fuss.
Praise him when he does the business perhaps - even a wee reward and take him to the same grassy patch time and time again to get this off the ground.
Wash down the area where he has previously peed in doors with 50/50 white vinegar to neutraliser the odour and stop future occurrences. The dog is still a youngster really.

Crate training is a great way to housebreak a dog. Put them in the crate while youre at work or sleeping. Let them out as soon as you get home or first thing in the morning. They might piddle in the crate at first but this will cease because they dont urinate/poop in their own "nest".
first clean the areas where he pee'ed real good so he cant smell it, then you can use a potty pad for awhile and keep moving it closer to the door until you eventually move it outside. This works well with Chihuahuas anyway.

Try taking the dog out for extra walk, perhaps the dog needs more access to the garden, remember animals can't tell you that they have a weak bladder, as with humans some need to go more than others.
Put a dog flap in the back do will give easy access to the garden
I know it's not a nice thing to do but first if u catch it peeing pick it up and put it outside, with a newspaper under it while carrying lol. If u find a puddle of pee rub it's nosy (gently) in the pee. It will soon learn
