The dog must have enough exercise. Any dog must have enough exercise. We have a large GSD & he is a gentle giant. However, even if a day or 2 goes by without some serious exercise he gets nutty in the house. Consider hiring a teenager to come & take the dog for a long walk in the afternoon if you are unable. It's good to ask for advice, it shows how much you care about your pet. Cheers!
i take it your on about your girlfriend here
Take her to training classes, and long walks to ware her out
Tell guests not to make eye contact, look at her or fuss her when they visit. If she jumps up the should just turn away. If you all stay calm she will soon calm down.
thats the same exact problem that i have with my jack russell, i just take her out and run out all the excitedness out of her by exercising with her, try wearing out your dog and then pet her and give her a treat if she stays calm.
You have not mentioned your dogs age, if she is a puppy she will grow out of it, all dogs tend to be a little boisterous when young, they eventually settle. My dog is also very sociable and even though he is four he still gets a bit over excitable. Have you considered that possibly she is not getting enough exercise, try a few long walks and even take her to dog classes so that she is well socialised etc. Also take a look at her diet, maybe you are feeding her the wrong food, this sometimes can cause problems.
WELL I HAVE the same problem wit my dog nd the vet said that neutering the dog well cut the hormone levels therefore decreasing the enrgy levels or u could just take her out on really long walks to wear her out nd then give or a treat/reward when she is calm and pet her when she is calm
You need to make sure she's getting enough exercise, then do not reward her behavior - even scolding her when she's bad gives her the attention she's seeking. Advise your guests to ignore her until she calms down, then pet her in a calm manner. She will soon get the picture and be the perfect pet!
Try feeding her something made with Cannabis but it could get expensive thanks to our "loving" Nanny-state government (unless you grow your own). And remember, no chocolate. They say it's bad for dogs.
