What is the most you've spent on a single fish, and was it worth it?

Henry, my Mbu Puffer, cost me £60, but I think he's well worth it!

Answers:
I think I have spent around £300 on my first 6 discus and they are well worth it. Watching them raise their offspring from eggs to free swimming young fish is a delight and the way they take food from my hand is cool. If you take size into consideration I think my two blue rams at £12 each where the most expensive I think I paid over the odds but they are simply stunning and very engaging to watch.
$1.oo for the can of worms, so i could catch it
Gosh, look after Henry.
$65.00
£3.40 on a large battered haddock, yummy.
45$..it was a dog face fish..and yea i guess it was worth it..he made me laugh..bc he was so ugly..
i got a haddock from the chip shop once, it was £3 including chips, and was very nice. thats the most ive spent on a fish
£2.50 for a nice piece of cod yum yum
$2.00 and it died the very next day
£31- it was Monk Fisk and was scrummy! :o)
well i would say maybe twelve dollars.
and it died like a week later.
how retarded.
i have many a fish now though.
and they only cost me about 3 dollars each! =)
75p on a goldfish and no it wasnt worth it as it died when i got home.
I love puffers. In 2000 I bought two pink convict cichlids for $3.78 each and one is still alive. He is aggressive and bounces off the tank wall when anyone looks at him. He needs anger management courses but he is so much fun! I only buy cheap fish.
I spent $30 on an Oscar once. He ate all my other fish and grew to be over 18 inches long. I called him "George". I had him for five years. When I moved, I gave him to a pet shop and for all I know, he lives there still. He'd be about 35 though, so I suspect he's catfood.
I spent $500 on this exotic looking tiger/spider looking thing.. the next day my cat got into the tank and ate it! So I had to take $500 worth of frustration out on his hyde.
$40 and it was worth every cent. it was very tasty indeed and it fed a few people
Most expensive I bought were clown loach about £10 each. They are very funny, they sleep on there sides. I would have spent a lot more on a tank full of discus off e-bay, if i could have got someone to collect it for me.
Paid $80 for a flame angel. It ate my corals after 2 weeks so I took him back to the store and traded it for a sun coral, a huge bubble anemone, and 2 peppermint shrimp.
ive never bought a live fish

my cousin bought a giant koi carp for nearly £200 in july
she has a pond full of them
About $4.50 for a guppy, so cute!!
I have spent 350 on an elegance coral. It died during the last hurriacane, as we were powerless fo about 3.5 weeks.
$10 on my latest Gourami. He died in 3 days. My other $10 Gourami absolutely refused to die, no matter what kind of condition befell her, from getting stuck in a decorative rock and getting a large chunk torn out of her back and belly (which everyone thought would have been fatal), to God-knows how many diseases, to swim bladder failure (which eventually cleared up on its own).

My worst decision with fish was buying $100 worth of neon tetras. Because of poor design (stuck an airstone and a plastic plant inside the aforementioned rock, to make it look like a volcano), all the tetras mysteriously disappeared in a matter of a month. and was replaced by a large, nasty, smelly, puffball in the 'volcano'.
I spent $20 on a Black Ghost Knifefish a little while ago.I always thought they were cool looking and everything so when i got a 72 gallon tank I got one.it only lived for like a week but luckily i could get my money back on it (I love petsmart!)
i cnt remember wht it was called but it cost 1500 £
This is for phantomfeline.
You spent 1500 pounds on a fish and can't remember what it's called? Yeah, we all believe that...

The most money I ever spent on fish was $18 on a bag of six neolamprologus multifasciatus, a small (one and a half inch) shell dwelling cichlid from Lake Tanganyika in Africa. I have spawned them and sold the fry making about $80 on them so far.
£3.95 and it came with chips! Mmm Tasty!
$150 on a pertochromis trewavasae. He is VERY rare, and is now worth over a grand. So yes, it was totally worth it.
Tiger Muskie - 3 for $160 US Dollars (but the farm I got them from through a 4th one in for good measure so it was well worth it).
The most I've spent on buying an actual fish was 3.5$ for a black molly.

Now, I think the most money I've spent on a fish is 250$ buying all the proper supplies and tank for my goldfish. I'll be upgrading tanks again soon, so there will be more money on those three (one of which was free from when I won a contest 9 years ago).
hi
maybe but we all spend different amounts on different fish etc.
i had a 8x4x4 tank i payed £100;00 for a real grand lid to be made at a local furniture shop.
i had a special base made up by my dad who is a builder.
it was bloody gorgeous to look at a real envy to every one.
i kept 6 red bellied piranhas and a 3ft black pacu.
im not bragging because i spent to much on it as i was forgetting to pay my bills while i was spending so much on this hobbies that it took me by hold.
but yes i love fish in a big way.
also my black pacu cost me £150.00 when i bought him
and the red bellies £20.00 each.
you spend what you can my mate its worth it if you ever go in to breeding fish ,watching there behaviour pattens.
all the best in the future from Wayne
I got oscar for free..was gone for a few days, (emergency) he ateA LL my fish and he grewww. the other fish were med. expence
