Can a dog survive with 2 legs?

Answers:
Yes. It does depend how well the dog can adapt. I have seen several dogs adapt well to a sort of cart-like comtraption which acts as back legs, when they have been paralysed. I have even seen a dog with one front leg and one back leg walk around and live as good a life as any four legged dog!

Here's a clip of a famous 2 legged dog:

yes but can't survive without food , oxygen and all its vital organs.
mind you , is it a good quality of life to be a dog, with 2 legs? i think not. It is better to have it put to sleep with its dignity in tact.
Yes ive seen several two legged dogs and they seem to be fine.why are you asking are you thinking of cutting your dogs legs off?please dont.
What's got 2 legs and bleed's alot?

Half a dog
Survive - yes. Walk - no.
I saw a two legged dog on Oprah. It was missing the front legs. The doctors said it would rub its belly skin off and die if it kept scooting around, so the owner taught it to walk on its' hind legs. It was a 18 hour a day project
There was one on 'Babe in the City' who has wheels for back legs.
Your vet should be able to tell you things.therapy wise that will make his quality of life better. He will be just fine, but you need to try and help him get used to the change.(provided he has just lost them) He just needs your love and help to get back on track. Good Luck.
actually yes. i have seen one dog that walks and plays just like any other dogs and has been like this for at least 5 years. as a puppy he was born with 2 handycapped front legs. so now he uses his back ones to walk and play and everything else. just like a normal dog would. no cart or anything needed.
I've seen one at our vet's place. Even though it doesn't look too good, but it still can survive.
Sure! Legs are for mobility and are not essential for life to survive. As long as there is the spirit to live a dog will learn to deal with what it has for legs and manage in it's own unique way.
the number of dogs is not limited in dog society. this number has entered in human society also.
Yes A dog can survive with 2 legs if you have all that it takes to keep it as your pet. I mean you will have to give in all the caring and provide him with a good living condition as may be required. You are already showing how much you care by asking this quesiton.
Yes, a good friend of mine has a dog who was in an accident and has lost 2 of his legs. They told her to have the dog put down, but while she was considering this she saw the dog was evidently trying to get around, showed no signs of health deteriation and now after 6 months the dog is still very much alive and seemily happy.

They have devised a system whereas the dog can sit on a something like a cart. They also carry the dog if it needs to get outside quick. Also the old way of putting down newspapers in case of accidents. The dog is very happy and very loving. However, people must be committed to looking after the dog, but to have had it put down would be a crime!

There is also a case where a similar thing happened in my town, where the dog was told to be put down, 7 years ago, and even the vet said that the dog is very happy and needs no medication. The reason it survived, just a little TLC.
Yes didn't you see the news where that family made a wheelchair for their dog.
Yes, although walking will be harder and running will be even harder.Dogs weren't born to walk on two legs like us, so if they loose their legs because they have cancer in it or something, they have to live like a 3 or 2 legged dog, although misrable, at least it still is alive and just has some changes to make with their legs and behavior.
yes it will have a hard time getting around
Not in a court of law as it would hardly have a leg to stand on
what r u guys saying? of course not. sorry girl, but u would give that dog a really bad life, since dog's life is like 99% full of running, walking and playing.
:-(
Your dog could survive with 2 legs but it will be hard for him or her to get around.
We have a Jack Russel that was hit by a car. His name is Cooper. He lost both legs on his left side. I could not bear the thought of having him put to sleep. He was still a baby (10 months old) when it happened. But, animals can be very resilient, as soon as he was able he was up, balanced on on his two remaining legs. Before we knew it he was out in the yard running and playing like nothing had ever happened. You would be surprised how fast a two-legged dog can run!! He was so hyperactive we put him in agility training for "special" dogs. He has even won a few events! So, yes, a dog can live with only 2 legs, but that is all dependent on the individual animal and the severity of injury. If the dog would have no quality of life then the best thing to do is to have it put to sleep.

I saw a news report years ago about a vet that drove across a railway line and found a dog that had been hit by a train. When he went to euthanase it, although in shock it didn't try to bite him. He was so impressed by its temperament that he decided to give it a chance.
It survived the car journey and the op, but had to have one front leg and the opposite back leg removed. It learned to stand up and walk, to stand still it had to kind of 'hop', first on the front foot than on the back to keep its balance; or lean against his new owners leg.
It really depends on the dog. Heavy dogs are sometimes unable to cope with losing a front leg. And the owners have to be unsympathetic, and try to gee the dog along rather than feel sorry for it.

Disabled dogs are no more miserable than disabled people. Some cope better than others.
yeh get it sum wheels
