What do you think about keeping rats as pets?
Answers:
rats make an excellent choice as a pet, very intelligent and clean. They love human interaction and like to play, they are happy to be handled by children as well-they would need more looking after than hamsters as they are awake more in the day and need to be kept busy.
great idea.
big snakes love a quick snack
you have to keep their house clean and watch their health. they are quite clever and can sneak away. but they are pretty cute if you are talking about domestic ones.
My mom would freak and yeah i would buy it just to freak her out.
i think its fine its kinda kool also
very easy to keep. good for kids. require regular cleaning of cage, but apart from that they are easy, friendly and enjoy being handled, unlike mice, hamsters etc.
don't seem to live long. i've had 2. one lived under 2 yrs, the other, only just over a year.
Great pets! I have 2. They are tame, smart, clean, and never bite! Way better than hamsters, cause they don't poop on you!
It depends on the person.. some love rats some love hamsters or gerbils and some love other pets. it's like with food everyone loves something different
yer great i have two thay dont bit and great fun go for it and have fun
I hear they are really smart but their pee really stinks!
more of a pest. than pet. but it up to the individual
At first I was skeptical, however, when my 10 year old son won his class' rat it has been pleasantly surprising. He loves it! He carries it around on his shoulder. I'm amazed how clean it is and the family has really warmed up to it. The class named it Marshmallow, but he calls it Marshy. He knows it will not live long (a couple of years) but all children need to have a pet sometime in their live.
yuck
Rats are great pets. They are cleaner, smarter and friendlier than all those other fuzzy things like hamsters, bunnies, ferrets and mice.
You can even train them to ride around on your shoulder and sit with you while you do things like computer work and watching TV.
Most people can't get past the hairless tail, but that is just part of the package.
Not for me-I view all of them as pests.
I would not have one myself, couldn't get past the stigma I afraid but I do know people who have them as pets and they think they are great. I just can't figure out why someone would want a pet that has to live in a cage all the time. What fun is that?
I'd buy one,but you should do some research before you by one.
I had one as a pet, and it surprised me by showing quite its own definite personality. I was very happy to meet such a nice animal. But it ended sadly, because the rat had a misaligned incisor tooth, which grew out like a tusk and made eating almost completely impossible. I didn't have access to a veterinarian then, and it died, but never did anything hostile or mean in its life. Its (I think - her) name was "Bishop".
I used to! No problems - just keep cage clean!
its ok, in fact, i think their cute, and as long as you dont mind touching them, and dont let them run away
I can't believe you asked that question. Rat's are vermin and absolutly putrid creatures, why on earth would anyone want a rat as a pet.
Rats make great pets I had few myself they love to play.
i woudnt
great. i used to have 4
our daughter had 2 they were lovely BUT you must clean them ofter also have them very young and handle them ,also with there food already in with them feed them through the cage you also need to talk to them and give them toys to play with
Rats are drop dead gorgeous. Only thing is the honeybuns cant help but pee. After a day or so their cage will smell like digestive biscuits, which is endearing. After that, it gets a bit worse, so plenty sawdust for them, and clean out regular. Let them out at night, and you stand to get woken up by tiny sniffing noises in your ear! Giggle on sweetheart!! They're lovely.
Rats are amazingly intelligent and make lovely pets .
They are fastidiously clean
all seem to have their own individual character
they come in all colours . and different coat textures
It is well worth joining a rat fanciers club ,
so you can show your rats
and admire others club members rats as well
.
What do i think of keeping pet rats ?
I am all for them . !!!
(^,,^)~~
My sister had two fancy rats and loved them. They are not for everyone but they are intelligant animals, beady eyes and all.
They make excellent pets, I have had 3 now. They are very clean, eat anything, don't bite and will happily ride around on your shoulder. I used to take one of mine to the pub with me and she would sit on my shoulder and eat crisps. She cured a lot of people's phobia of rats this way. I find their cages can be left a little longer between clean outs if you use Catsan Cat Litter instead of woodshavings, as it absorbs any odours. I can't understand why people buy their children any other pet having now experienced having pet rats.
