Vinegar, but don't do malt, as you won't be able to see them clearly, distilled be good, clear as you like, watch them float and stuff, even throw in some chillies/black peppercorns/bay leaf, and who knows may be pickled in time for Christmas..

Have a word with your dogs vet as I am sure he will happily take your dog off you and give it to a home were it will be looked after properly and loved.
Im surprised the vet let you have the testicles after castrating your dog - usually they dont do that....?
