Hi I've just bought a baby rabbit. 6 weeks old. she is very friendly. and she sits on my shoulders for hours.

while she is there she makes a clicking sound also she licks my face and neck all the time. Is this a good sign? I have the chance to get hwr sister. but not sure. is she better with another rabbit or will she be better on her own? thanks

Answers:
It depends. Rabbits are social animals. However, if they DO have a playmate (of their own species), they tend to prefer them over their human playmates. Your rabbit will probably continue to be more affectionate towards YOU if she is the only bunny. HOWEVER. you have to think about HER needs. Are you going to be able to provide her a good amount of quality time with you for her entire life? If not, then a 2nd bunny is probably the best thing for her. Nothing sadder than a lonely bunny. And if she's already THAT friendly (I wish my bunny was THAT friendly. he likes to be petted, but he'd never go on my shoulders!) chances are she'll always be a lover.
She sounds sweet ! probably a sign of affection and I think you should get her sister , if you can afford it and stuff.
thats good she likes u
i agree! she likes you! and i would get her sister if you can afford to care for them both! this will give her company while you are out!!
Licking sounds fine.as long as the clicking sound doesn't coincide with breathing patterns, I wouldn't be worried. There could be something in its lungs if there are clicks with every breath.but if that's not the case, then it's probably normal.
We had a rabbit like this once, would sit in your lap, on your shoulder and rub your legs! the clicking sound equals that of a cat purring, so a good sign!
had to get rid when hubby went to Nigeria to work...a sad moment to give her away!
Rabbits, I believe are better on their own, if have spent time apart, as they tend to fight for territory!
are you sure it is not a budgie you bought instead of a rabbit
Bless, she sounds so cute. shes still a baby and as your feeding and caring for her, you are her new mummy, bless. I also think you should get her sister for company.
ahhhhhhh how sweet! yeah i def think u should get her sister ive had 8 rabbits which have all lived in seperate cages (they would fight together) they would be great company for each other and will play together if i get more rabbits i would get 2 sisters together and would love to watch them playing! r u sure its a clicking noise not like a sound of her grinding her teeth cos this is a sign of being of pain. hope this helps
I had a male rabbit who was about 6mths old it was very nice to start then started gettin nasty they tend to guard their territory an i asked the vet about gettin another for company ... bad idea if same sex..keep it on its own means then it shud settle with gettin all the attention
The clicking sound may be actually teeth grinding which is like a cat's purr, it means they're very happy. I've never heard of rabbits licking a person, or sitting on their shoulder. She may consider you her mother because she is so young and should still be with her real mother. At such a young age she should still be drinking milk from her mother but since that's not an option, give her alfalfa hay and pellets. You may want to check with the vet on a more detailed diet. It is always better for a rabbit to have a friend to play with when you're not there, but make sure you bond them correctly.

go get her twin sister so she's got another rabbit to relate to but remember they are animals and dont have the toilet training of proper children
The licking is a great sign - it shows that she really likes you and is obviously very affectionate.

If you have the money and the rabbit hutch is larger enough for both rabbits when they get bigger - then get a little companion for her.

I wouldn't suggest getting a male as they might fight and might produce un-wanted litters.
hey your rabbit sounds really sweet! the rabbit is probably being friendly! rabbits love having company! if another rabbit sounds like too much, why dont you get a guinea pig! but make sure theyu are the same sex and if not get them nutured!
