Why cant any one help wen u take a stray dog in?

the rspca could not help i thought they could help

Answers:
Try

Police Station

NCDL (Dogs Trust) if there's one locally to you.

Local Vets (if the dog is missing the owners may well have put missing notices up with all the local vets, and the vet can scan him to see if he's got a microchip to identify him and return him to his owners)

Look for other animals charities in your area in the Yellow Pages

My mother had the same problem when she found a very sick little King Charles Spaniel straying outside her house. The poor little thing was in a terrible state and needed attention. The RSPCA didn't want to know. My mum went through the Yellow pages and found an independent local animal shelter who took the poor little thing in, nursed it back to health and found it a loving home. It was shocking that the RSPCA didn't seem interested.
go to your local vets or pet shops they should know of someone who will take in strays..
The RSPCA doesn't give a damn unless they're on the TV. Take it to the police station.
BECAUSE.You never tell us what you need help with.
How sad!

Yes, contact local vets. They may know of someone looking for a dog, or help you provide basic medical cate.

Check out for humane societies in your local area, put up signs, preferably with an adorable picture of him - in grocery stores, etc.

Good luck!
Why did they say they couldn't help? thats unusual. If you are having problems, the first point of call should be the local vets where they should scan the dog for a microchip for free. If the dog has a microchip then its owners can be tracked down. If not then it should be taken to a rescue centre so the owners can find it if it is missing. It should be reported to the police and the local vet practices should be notified. If possible put up notices giving a breif description of the dog found, butnot too much as you want to make sure the right owners are found. so get them to describe the dog to you. Theres not alot else to suggest.sorry
SPCA-type organizations take care of the animals that are turned over to them. If you have taken in this dog, it is now your dog and your responsibility, not theirs. They may be able to direct you to low-cost spay/neuter programs and such, but they aren't going to give you money or free stuff or anything like that; otherwise they would go broke withy everyone looking for a handout.
The RSPCA is not run by the government, nor do they recieve any funding from them. They are privately run. The agency that handles all strays would be your local Animal Control. That's where all your tax dollars go, they are responisple for handeling the stray situation.

The RSPCA may actually be out of room for animals. It happens. There are far too many irresponsiple owners out there who do not get their animal spayed or neutered and the animal population continues to grow at an exponential rate. Example, 1 dog has 6 puupies. Those six puppies will have six puupies each. And so on, and so on.

If your RSPCA is a no kill shelter, they just may be out of room. If not, the only wasy to make room is to euthanize animal just to make room. Unfortunately, there are not enough good homes for these animals. Either way it's tough on them. As a non-profit orginization, they are always overworked and strapped for cash.
Where is this dog? I'm looking for a dog, you can contact me.
Errrr, don't take-in stray-dogs. Doh!
I'm afraid there are certain rules regarding stray animals that people have to abide by.

Get your vet to scan the dog for a microchip. If one can't be found - newspapers often have free ads in a LOST & FOUND section. After that, then I'm afraid the dog warden will have to be the next port of call.

The dog warden will keep the dog for up to 7 days. If no owner comes forward, the dog will either be taken in by a rescue or destroyed.

Even if you wanted to keep the dog yourself (and I'm not suggesting that you do, by the way), you would have to go via the warden, and ask that if the owner does not come forward, to rehome the dog once its 7 days were up. Otherwise the dog would not legally be yours.

Can't let this go though without congratulating and thanking you for caring enough to do something about the stray. Well done.
I found a stray dog once I phoned the rspca they told me that they only recovered wild injured animals, told me to contact a dog warden !
you could put found flyers
go to the vets there know.
What kind of help are you looking for?
Training tips or someone to buy the dogs food and spay/neutered for free?
Training we can all help with right here but you have to do the work.Anything financial and you're on your own for the most part.If you can't afford medical care or food then you should'nt have taken the dog in.But still I'd check around with the county and all rescue groups in your area for programs that will assist you.
In this area everyone pays an extra $10.00 for rabies shots. That $10.00 is supposed to be put into a fund to assist low income families to spay/neuter their pets.
Also contact all vets in your area.Mine gives shots free one Saturday a month to anyone who cannot afford it.She's also been nice enough to lower our bills when we were in a financial pinch charging us for only what she absolutely had to.With 4 animals in the house to feed and care for if it were'nt for her we'd have really been in a pickle a couple of times in the past.So explain your situation and if you're really in need then I'm sure someone will be willing to help you out.
Food can also be gotten directly from the manufacturers.I shudder to say it but Purina has such a program.you can get their number off any bag of dog food.
try other animal rescue/rehoming centres or if you are really stuck then take the dog to your local police station as they will pass the dog over to a shelter/rescue centre themselves.
the fact that you have taken it in and i know you done this for it own good its no longer classed as a stray silly i know but this is the way its looked at
