What came first the chicken or the egg?
Answers:
Which came first - the chicken or the egg? "The chicken" came first - in the sentence of the question. If the question is phrased differently, the answer is different.
Reframing the question
It could be said that the question simply requires one to know the context. Most people thinking of the question automatically think of the timeline and it is in this manner that both the previous evolutionary theory and religious teachings contexts arise. Other potential contexts are:
* Having looked through a dictionary from front to back, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?
* When you walked through the supermarket, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?
* When reading the menu, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?
The egg had to come first or there would be no chicken, but what made that egg? I figure two different kinds of birds mated and thus a chicken was hatched.
nether - a feather
the chicken
the chicken existed first, 2 lay the egg.
the egg couldn't have been there first, the food provided inside the egg 2 nourish the chick had 2 come from the chicken.
and b damned, can i find the news link i read it from!
don't u just hate it when that happens, huh?
:)
the egg but the chic is inside of the egg so technically they come out the same time
Only GOD knows that answer. Sorry.
on account that the chicken is extremely selfish, i would say that the chicken would *** 1st then jump in a taxi not believing that the egg would need to ***, well its just an egg
who cares

If you are a Creationist, the chicken came first.
If you are an Evolutionist, the egg came first.
The chicken came first. The Lord made all animals. And, so he made a chicken.
The chicken came first .God created living things. then the egg was produced to multiply.
how i see it is it depends if the thing that gave birth to the chicken originally laid eggs?
It was so a chicken.
The egg.
The chicken came first because (sigh) the chicken had to get laid before the egg could. Don't say I didn't warn you.
the egg
The chicken as we know it today has evolved from other species.
Evolution is a slow process, coming from tiny, heritable mutations in DNA. It is therefore unlikely that such a dramatic change as the first chicken being born not from an egg would occur.
The first bird hatched that we could call a chicken therefore came from an egg. This egg was laid by a bird that was not a chicken, because at that stage chickens did not yet exist.
Ergo, the egg came first.
That's the evolutionary view. The creationist theory has so many flaws that I really can't be bothered to explain it.
I think the egg, but the more you think of it the more that it becomes complicated. If a chicken precursor laid an egg from which a chicken hatched, what would that chicken breed with to get another chicken - all that would be available would be males of the precursor species. It only works when many precursors lay genuine chicken eggs at the same time. Is this a flaw in Darwinian Evolution theory?
well this question has come up loads of times and its the first time iv answered so here goes. the thing is have you took evolution into account and that the chicken actually made itself lay eggs instead of live birth. as you know evolution is a thing that proceeds through life and that maybe we was ape like humans and then humans in the form of what we are today but to break it down. chickens may not have been like they are today they may have been the same form but lived life as a predator and had no reason to protect there offspring as much as they are today so they developed and evolved into egg laying creatures so they could lay eggs in the brush or hole and feed then go back to keeping the eggs warm. so as you can see evolution has a big say in the question chicken or the egg.
The egg came first. From evolution, in the ocean from microbes, next came the fish, then amphibians, then reptiles. The reptiles were the first to lay eggs with a HARD shell (to protect the embryo from the land environment).
Birds evolved from reptiles. If you look at the feet/legs of a chicken, you will be reminded of reptilan scales/skin. This is the residual evolutionary clue. And so, the egg DEFINITELY came first; then the chicken, followed by "why did the chicken cross the road" jokes.
nobody knows.
the chicken- because god created all animals first.
this is about the 100th time this has been asked, do you think you will get the ultimate answer?
the egg, trust me
This question has been ask for centuries I do believe. I look at it this way, which came first, woman or child? Well you know the answer for that one so, When God was creating things, remember the C comes before E. Well if he did it alphabetically.
The Cockerel. Otherwise the egg wouldn't have been fertilised
the roster all ways does
A team of "experts" recently figured this out - it was the egg.
They gave an explaination but it was way above my head!
Colonel sanders.
It matters what you believe in. When believing in God, God created the chicken, so the chicken came first. If you believe in evolution, then the egg came first because of slight mutations in other birds that were close relatives.
Animals were laying eggs long before there were chickens
