Why hasnt my piranha eaten for 4 days?
he normally eats frozen fish food every other day - he is about 18months old and 5 inches long ,lives alone and is very shy.

i used to keep piranhas myself but alot larger than yours.
mine were kept in a 8ft aquarium x 4ftx4ft.
i showed a mate one day and he scared them banging on the glass, they stopped feeding immediately when i try ed to feed them the next day.
after 4weeks one got hungry and the others followed suit.
remember this in the wild they stay together picking of the weaker fish even there own kind,and can last a while without food in the wild.
my piranhas were breeding before the prat hit my glass tank.
they never breed after that.
i kept red bellies imported from there natural habitat.i kept them with a 3ft fruit eating pacu.he loved grapes.
some red bellies like abit of fruit/veg in there diet.
i think it will not be long before they eat again.
try prawns,and live blood-worms,and dapnia.
question,
how cleans the tank,
how good is your filter,u need a decent one as there messy fish and cause water to go bad real quick.
when did you clean the gravel last,
whats the nitrites and nitrates reading.
whats you ammonia reading.is the temperature ok.
do you check your pH.
i fed mine every 2 day like you do as well so that's OK.

i tryed that route as the person is saying above.
its up to you you could put afew guppies in and see if there, there next morning,then you know it was bought up on live foods before you had it,but it is now illegal to feed goldfish.
but i guess what others dont know wont hurt them and how you gonna know if you dont try it out.
probably cuz he just ate little johnny from down the block. hes not hungry anymore
he might be compacted or on the other hand..or fin.he might not fancy eating..try him on a different food

Try feeding him live feeder fish. I have two piraha that are about 5 years old and I feed them 100 feeders every Tuesday (Tuesday is buy one get one free at the fish store). During the colder months they don't eat nearly as much but during the summer much it is practically 100 a week.
My 15 year old just died last year. I fed him the same way his whole life.
Try sticking your finger in the water and see if he's hungry for fresh meat.
it needs fresh goldfish of course everybody gets sick of froozen food sometimes give it a fresh food sometimes
put your finger in the water and waggle it about a bit, see if hes still alive
give him a variety of differnt food . test your water .
Maybe hes a vegetarian! lol =]
