Will it stop.?
Hi we have got a 11 month old ***** and she still likes to do a her business in the house.
She does not do it all the time maybe once or twice a week, me and my husband belive she knows it's wrong as she looks rather sorry for herself if we come into the room and she's "Done it!"
My husband takes her out before we go to bed and there can still be something there in the morning?
She also likes doing it if she is left on her own, (Not all the time)
Any suggestions on how to get her compleatly house trained?
Answers:
By 11 months a dog should be housetrained so you are not doing it right. Need to be firm but kind and teach her that no means no and good girl is rewarded. Works a treat with the Mrs.
11 months is still kind of early give her time
Try to go to some dog traning place. Or reward her when she goes out and punish her when she goes in. Like put her in her cage.
Sweetheart can you please re-write your question and explain in some easier language ?
I hope that you are talking about a dog because 11 month old is very broad.
Crate her or watch her 24/7
You don't say what kind of dog you have. Smaller, toy breeds have a harder time with housetraining because they have smaller bladders/they go more often.
I'm sure she's not doing it on purpose. You may have to rule out a medical reason.
You need to control what goes into her mouth!
Everytime she eats r drinks put her outside to do her business. i had the same problem with my dog. persistence is the only way.
Sounds to me like Separation Anxiety
Why don't you both get a leach to your dog, bring him/her outside and let the dog go to the bathroom outside? Start spending time with you dog outside. Potty train the dog to go outside and not in the house. Tell the dog "no" "no" when you see the dog trying to go poop in the house. Good Luck!!
My best suggestion is a schedule. It seems you are well on your way- husband takes her out before you go to bed. Limit water in the evenings- not taken away- just limit it. 20-25 minutes after eating is a prime time for potty-ing- so take her out then. For a dog that age- every 45 min or so is a good time other than the after eating. Take her out for business only. if she wants to play instead- bring her indoors and try again later. Play outside with her AFTER shes got the potty thing under control.
Believe me, dogs don't want to go in the house. She wants to do good, she just needs some help and guidance. She may still be mastering bladder control too, so be patient, and consistant.
Have fun with her, good luck, it will happen in time. Also, make a big happy deal about it when she does go outside- seems silly- but it works. Never rub noses in it either- She knows what it is already.
hi it will stop try taking away him or hers water away maybe about 8 at night,we fed ours at 4pm and thats it until the next morning,we take her for a toilet about 10.30pm and thats her for the night and its worked for us and i forgot to say shes a 7 month great dane
I would suggest placing your pet in a kennel cab at night, then let her out in the morning time.Pets also don't need to be given the run of the house while you are away, close her up in her cab,as some dogs can be injured while owners are away,by electrical outlets,or something they could pull off a shelf.Try to get her in a schedule on going out to potty, and as soon as she pottys bring her directly back in ,as she will not understand why you are putting her out unless you bring her directly back in.Do this until she understands why you are putting her out.
I don't know.
Sweetheart some dogs just wont be house broke its just life
Ok I once read a book on dogs and it says not to scowled them a long time after the dog "does its
business" you must do it right as there doing it by giving a command like "outside" you should then grab the dog and take it out. I tried this for a few weeks with my 1yr old puppy I had got from the pound after I read it in the book at the pet store and it worked !! ALSO.. I suggest you go to the pet store and read about potty training for the breed of dog that you have.
My advice would be to get a kennel cab that is not much bigger than she is but big enough to lie down comfortably in and stand up in. Put her in it when you go to bed. She may hate it at first but dogs generally don't like to soil where they sleep when in a small space. Don't put a towel or bedding in it. The crate is soft enough she will be fine. The reason why I say don't do this is because sometimes when in training for this, the dog will soil in the bedding or on the towel while in a crate and then kick it aside.
Get your dog used to routine of when to go outside. Ours go in the morning early and then before bedtime and rarely have to go around those times. GL with your dog.
You know the major petstores, like Petco and Petsmart have some good trainers on staff..check it out, so you can start enjoying your puppy.
have you thought to buy a dog flap? i have border collie and he was like ur dog as i would sometimes miss the signs that he needed to go, hes still young and comes and goes as he pleases (garden very secure). Dont worry about burglars as the burglar would have to be about 5 years old to get through it. You can also get sprays from your vets that u put down to deter them from going to that area, thay a little pricey but 10 times cheaper than a new carpet
By now, she probably smells it on the carpet, and keeps going back there. Maybe have someone come out and steam clean the carpet? Also, you really ought to confine her at night. Ever consider crate-training?
i suggest you change her feeding regime..so she has plenty of time to empty her bowels before going to bed..try feeding her earlier in the day.
This might be a medical condition called ectopic ureter where the ureter is not connected to the bladder but lower down in the urinary tract. It's presentation is almost classic to your situation. It's much more common in female dogs. They are often difficult to house break and it is normally near or at 1 year of age that owners start to lose their mind over what they think is a dog that is purposely urinating in the house. Does she only urinate in the house and not defecate? I would highly suggest that you take her to the vet and they can do a contrast xray to determine if the ureter is not in the correct position. This can then be corrected surgically. She will still have a home, and you will still have your sanitiy and your husband (although the latter is a dispendable item ;) )
If it is not this the veterinarian can determine if there is another medical condition causing similar signs.
Unless you actually catch her in the act she won't know she has done anything wrong she will be reacting to your mood ie. she can pick up that you are angry about something even if you don't shout or scold she will know by your facial expression and or body language.
Regarding getting her clean you must take her out after each feed and when she wakes up, I have a 7 month old German Shepherd b1tch who is completely clean in the house and has been for 2 months! You have to be on the ball here, you have to watch HER body language, dogs usually lower their heads and turn around before having a poop so you should have plenty of time to get her outside before it happens, give her masses of praise when she 'goes' outside, what I did with my pup if she showed signs of pooing in the house, I raise my voice quite high (not easy for guy's I know) and sort of sing out the words 'quick quick in the garden, good girl' and moved hastily to the back door, my family think I have a screw loose BUT IT WORKS and they know that!
It's never failed! Oh and also don't feed her too late so that she has plenty of time to empty before you go to bed. Don't free feed either as this can confuse some dogs, I know some people like feeding this way but I think it is good to feed twice a day as dogs like routine.
Good Luck!
try and take the dogs bowl of water up of the floor when you go out and when you go to bed but make sure it has a wee before you go to bed and before you go out.
