Contraceptive injection?

im thinking of going on the contraceptive injection today at the doctors can i still take the morning after pill with it

Why would you pose this question to a bunch of strangers who probably don't know. Why not ask the doctor or nurse who is giving you the injection. You are going to be there anyway and thats what he or she is trained for.

The contraceptive injection is fine when you are on it but there is usually a limit to how many times doctors want to give it because of negative side effects. It can lead to difficulties when you stop and you do want to conceive, sometimes months before your normal regular menstrual cycle restarts, non stop periods very heavy lasting one or two months or even more without treatment. The periods are caused by low hormone levels and corrected my HRT, specifically taking oral contraceptives to restore the hormone balance and thus stop the periods.

The effects tend to accumulate over long periods of using this type of contraceptive.

All oral contraceptives affect your hormones and the doctor can best advise whether or not taking extra hormones in the morning after pill is wise when you have already had a massive dose of hormones injected at the same time.
I'm almost positive you can.because the morning after pill doesn't affect future pregnancies, like the injection does.

ask your doctor when you go to make sure.
If you have the injection today you will need extra precautions for 7 days. After that you will be protected and wont need to take the morning after pill.
yes of course but you will only need to if you do not use a condom?
YOU WONT NEED TO..It's contraceptive and lasts for 3-6 months. although if you are thinking of having random sex, make sure you dont rely on an injection alone, use condoms..BE SAFE
The DP injection is a very effective form of contraception. You should not require the morning after pill. Use condoms anyway whilst you are on this injection as it only protects you from pregnancy not STD's. You are fully protected from pregnancy 14 day after the injection. You must go back for the injection every 12 weeks not every 3 months. The nurse will give you a date when you need your next dose. Make sure you make your appointment well in advance so you are not later then the 12 weeks. You5r periods may be a little all over the place in the first 6 to 8 weeks, but then in most cases you don't have periods at all. Make sure you still have a good daily intake of dairy products as the DP injection can effect bone growth so you need to take real care that you are having good natural sources of calcium.
Good luck hunni, I'm sure you will be fine. Be safe and well.
yes
you can still take it but be prepaired to feel sick
i'm on the injection and i think it's great as i haven't had a period since i started on it. i think it protects you straight away but then why would you need the morning after pill too. Your doc is the best person to ask
If you get the shot it will be good for 5 wonderful years of not getting pregnant! Im sure you probably could still take the morning after pill if u wanted to be doubly safe but it shouldnt be necessary!
The contraceptive injection will protect you against pregnancy after 7 days. In the meantime you should use an additional form of contraception if you are currently sexually active. After this you can reply on the injection alone.

A few points though..

1. The injection will protect you against pregnancy but not sexually transmitted diseases. Unless you are in a steady relationship with a partner you trust it's always best to use condoms.
2. Given that you are asking this question, I suspect that you don't have all of the information you require about the contraceptive injection. Before you go ahead with it, have a proper chat to your doctor. Ask him to explain to you exactly how it works and to list the potential side-effects for you.
3. Finally, like a number of people on this website you seem to be referring to the morning after pill as a form of contraception. It is EMERGENCY contraception and should be used accordingly. It's recommended that you take is no more that 2-3 times in any one year. It should not be used as a regular method of contraception as the levels of hormones it delivers can cause some serious side effects for you.

Please have a chat to your doctor about contraception generally. I don't mean to sound like I'm preaching at you, but you will be healthiest and safest, both physically and mentally, when you are using a reliable method of contraception that you understand.

Hope this helps.
Yes i am quite positive you can with the depo jab, But be care full with this type of contraceptive as it made a real mess off my periods and made me put on weight. But it effects different people in different ways.
i went on the depo provera contraceptive injection which you have injected by the doctor every three months which is very good but it does have side effects such as gaining weight very quickly as your body holds more water i noticed this while i was taking them
