Can you still diet and loose weight whilst pregnant?

Answers:
It depends on how obese you are. If you are truly obese your goal would generally be not to gain much weight during pregnancy. You baby will get the nutrients it needs as long as you eat a sensible diet. Don't neglect eggs and other foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids (good for brain development.) Early in pregnancy and before pregnancy you need folic acid.

Talk to your obstetrician for guidance. No radical diets please.
Yes, you "can."

But it is an extremely BAD idea for the health of the child.
WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO YOUR BABY NEEDS ALL IT CAN GET
Proper diet and exercise or wonderful while your pregnant. But it's something that needs to be planned out with your doctor so your not over doing it or under eating.
I personally wouldn't worry about losing weight while pregnant though. Just try not to over eat to much junk and gain to much weight that will be harder to lose in the end.
you can.. but you should diet well ur pregnet or nursey, for your baby.
Not unless you want to risk the chance of miscarriage, preterm labor or stillbirth.
It is not recomended, because it would take away nutrition from the baby, but you can eat very healthy and excersize.
Im sure that you can, but that would be really SELFISH to do that. Your baby strives off your nutrients and fats.thats the reason you gain weight in pregnancy.you are not only careing for yourself, but also the helpless life inside of you. I hope that you arnt the one thinking about doing that to your baby...Some people can be so self centered.
you shouldve thot about loosing weight BEFORE you got pregnant if it was such a big thing. your gonna have plenty of time to loose after the baby gets here..the babys gonna need all the nutrition he can get to be healthy..
physically, yes. ethically, no.
There is no need to gain an astronomical amount of weight. However you do not need to "diet". You can still eat healthy though. Your body is going to gain weight while pregnant. You have to consider the weight of the child and the placenta. Not to mention the fluid that you will retain while pregnant. But do not let anyone tell you that you will have strange cravings or that you should eat whatever you want. That is an excuse for women to get fat. There is a huge difference between pregnant and fat. If you have any cravings it will likely be for cheese or fish or whatever your body feels it is not getting enough of. The best thing I can tell you is eat smart and listen to your body.
When I first found out I was pregnant I lost 6 pounds just by cutting out junk food and all white bread, like hotdog and hamburger buns. I used all whole wheat or whole grain breads and rolls. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Eat more fruits and veggies. I craved oranges during the first 2 months.
Dieting and loosing weight is an extremely bad idea during pregnancy because your baby is feeding off of your nutrients, Whatever you eat the baby eats. So whatever you don't eat the baby doesn't get, and as a result you are harming your baby and the baby can be underweight at birth or you could miscarry or you can have a still birth. So if you really cared about the health of your baby you would not diet and loose weight!
I would say that you probably can. But I would not advise of this, putting on wieght is a natural process of pregnancy. Eat a healthy diet that is high in calories, remember you have to feed two people. DO NOT go on a low-fat diet, a growing baby needs fats and cholesterol to develop properly. Fats and cholesterol is needed to produce hormones, develop the brain and is the basic building blocks of the body.
It's not a good idea to lose weight while pregnant. Stop worrying about your vanity and start worrying about that little life inside of you. That child needs nutrition from you. Check with your pediatrician before starting any kind of diet or exercise plan. You could end up hurting yourself or the baby.
i can see why you asked this question. it's tuff to keep your physique.but you know that proper nutrition is the key to a healthy child. you don't have to go overboard with the healthy foods and stuff like McDonald's.just be careful on the intake and you'll be fine.you should do some reading on your pregnancy there's a lot of good information out there for you.have a healthy pregnancy.and congratulations.
Keep the diet for after the pregnancy. Your child needs nutrients and if your on a diet you could be starving your little one.
It's not reccomended. Why not just eat healthily? A baby needs all the nutrition it can get. Just don't take the attitude that you're eating for two.it's not necessary. That's where most women go wrong and put on loads of weight whilst pregnant. All you need is a healthy balanced diet with plenty or fruit, vegetables, meat etc Don't eat to excess, just eat when you are hungry and get some gentle exercise and you'll be fine
It astounds me that someone could ask such an ignorant question, If putting weight on bothers you that much why did you allow yourself to become pregnant? You will get your figure back when baby is born, be so busy running around trying to do 10 things at once, the weight will drop off!
You should be giving your child all the help you can, not thinking about your figure. I swelled up with water when pregnant and there was nothing I could do about it. Your boby will do what it will regardless of your efforts, just enjoy eating what you want, you have the perfect excuse!
To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. definately not advisable if you want a healthy baby
