I think it is woonderful that you want to adopt. I am adopted. My life is great. My only concern has even been - I have no idea what my family medical background is and I am ttc now. Some people have a great pull to find their biological parents. I have never had that. My mom doesn't believe me when we talk about it - she feels that she'd want to know. I am happy and love my family a great deal and don't want the disruption (or possible rejection) that could come with searching her out. I have registered with the Canadian Adoption registry in case she is looking for me but I am not actively seeking her. I know her name - I know the name she gave me when I was born and I know (from my mom's memory) that I look a great deal like her.
I wish you much luck - there are so many children out there who need a good home.
I've got 3 you can have [only joking]
My parents started as foster parents with four of us already living at home and the first two children we recieved we couldn't let go of now we are a family with 6 children they are a lot of work and come from a bad background but it's deffinilty worth it to us. Maybe you should start bout fostering that way you know what you are getting yourself into first. Good Luck!
Please adopt me,I'm not a child, just cant be bothered to wipe my own bum any more.
I was adopted when my parents died 7 years ago. Make sure the adopted child has no allergies, and depending on the age don't keep objects that could harm or offend them in some sort of way.
It's worth considering what your other children think about this too (if they are old enough to ask). Or just consider how they might feel. I only say that because I have a friend who's parents fostered and adopted. Both her and her 2 biological sisters felt very pushed out by their parents. A lot of their childhood memories include things like having their belongings borrowed or thieved by problem children and not having their parents come to school shows because the house was busy with other things going on. It's not that their parents aren't nice people because they are but it has put a certain atmosphere between them and their now adult kids that probably will never change. Just a thought to consider.
My sister is adopted. I'm so grateful to her mother for giving her up. :) Good luck I hope you can adopt.
